  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dear Mr. Fitzgerald - Genesis Brand leader

The only suggestion others have shared itt that I am "passionate" about is having remote start on the key fob.

This ^^^^^ since it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to two minutes after the request is sent for the Genesis to start. My last two cars had remote start on the fob which was quite handy. Also, since the app has an option to turn the defrost on, how about one to turn on the seat cooling or heating?

Another significant improvement that might require a bit more engineering thought would be a way (maybe access ports?) to access the oil drain and filter without having to remove the entire bottom panels.

Overall, I give high marks to the folks who designed and built this car. It's a pleasure to drive and looks good. I'm about to take it on a long (about 2500 mile) trip later this summer and am looking forward to it.

WRONG!

The North American market gets what the U.S. DOT and EPA regulate it will get. Period.

For example, rear fog lights (bright yellow elements), flashing brake lights (flash on hard brake application), ...............

DOT doesn't prohibit brake light flashers per se. They're regulated by state transportation codes which vary from state to state. Some (like California) govern how many flashes can be shown before the lights must go steady, others (like Texas) have no regs at all.

Thanks for the info. I should have known that, considering how many non-functioning brake lights you see on the road (many states only require ONE light to be functioning and it doesn't have to be the CHMSL).

I coded a BMW for the flashing brakes (most European makes have the function embedded; it only needs software enabled). Great function if you ask me, real attention-getter and near instant transmission of essential information (rate of braking).

I can't imagine why we don't have that here in the United States. Perhaps it has something to do with flashing lights and seizures. I don't know. For years I've wanted something that indicates the intensions of the driver in front of you. For example, I'd love to see a system where there's a small light somewhere on the back of each car and if you're on the gas, the light is green. If you're hovering over the brake pedal, the light is orange, if you're pressing softly on the brake pedal - the brake lights work as usual - but if you're pressing hard on the brake pedal - the lights flash. This would probably prevent a lot of accidents. I'd really love to know if the person ahead of me has their foot over the brake...

I don't know which aftermarket unit they used, but the dealer added a device to the third brake light (atop the rear window) which causes it to flash a few times when the brakes are applied then go steady. I like having that.

I've gotten into the practice of adding similar devices and extra brake lighting to every motorcycle I have (based on past experiences).

As to all the other ideas to make the car great.....Hyundai cars don't have remote start on any model that I know of like GM and Chrysler cars do almost as a matter of course.

I use the app and pay for Bluelink so it is not an issue for me to have it on the remote which I never take out of my pocket to use and kind of defeats the purpose of keyless access and the magic trunk opener feature.

Let me see if I have this right, So instead of pulling out the key fob to remote start your car, you pay for blue link and a app and pull out your phone to remote start the car. :)

I'd rather just have a remote start on the key fob, simple and easy.
And I'd like to have heated/cooled rear seats.

The only minor issue I have is the small rear window that is not covered by the side or rear shade. Yes I took care of it by installing window tint. But until I did, it was an annoyance having the rear window and side window shades up and not having anything to block the sun coming in that small window.

Other than those 3 things, I'm fine with the 5.0 I have. vast improvement over my '12 5.0 R Spec

1. Adjustable "headlights on" for the level of outside light. Currently too sensitive.
2. Choice of automatic tilting side mirrors down when in reverse or leave them as is.
3. "Acc" on start button should allow sound system to be on & power windows to work.
4. Upon start-up, show drive mode on dash to nudge driver to choose desired mode.
5. Add a dip-stick to windshield washer fill cap to show exact level of fluid. (See Subaru)
Thanks to the forum for this opportunity to improve the breed.

1. For the love of everything holy, train the sales staff and service departments to act in accordance with the MSRP of these cars.
2. Refine the interior lighting, I don't need the "passenger airbag on" light to be the brightest in the cabin. Also increase brightness on the cooled and heated seats. The cooled seat indicators are barely daylight visible.
3. Keep the auto hold button, but retain that setting until deselected, it should not shut off with the ignition.
4. The lights should come on when the wipers are on, obviously not applicable if you are misting the windshield to clean It.
5. If the front door handles are going to be illuminated, so to should the rear. The passengers that get in the back of these cars do not, to my knowledge, have night vision. My BMW by default had door handle lights come on when the car was put in reverse, it cool feature.
5a. Refine the doorhandles so that the smart opening feature is actuated by gripping the door handle, even Jeep Cherokees have this feature. And move the lock car sensor/button to the top of the door handle or something, like BMW

1.

8. Engine shut off feature, similar to MB when you're at the stop light, etc.

.

This is the most god awful feature ever. I have to turn it off on my wife's Mercedes every time I start the car. It's like driving a golf cart. I was so glad when the salesman told me the Genesis didn't have this BS (won't call it a feature).

Agree completely. Do. Not. Want.

Had the same good feeling when I knew the Genesis G2 doesn't have this feature. I really hate it.

WRONG!

The North American market gets what the U.S. DOT and EPA regulate it will get. Period.

For example, rear fog lights (bright yellow elements), flashing brake lights (flash on hard brake application), full-time front high beams with block-outs for oncoming cars, pedestrians? Nope, none are allowed in the USA because the government says "No!" So, even though the hardware exists in U.S. models, the functions are disabled at the factory.

What do you mean WRONG?? I was referring to the luxury items found on the G80 and EQ900 in Korea and G80 and G90 in the rest of the world. I'm not talking about country/state mandated requirements !!

That's wrong.

Thanks to the forum for this opportunity to improve the breed.

We already have this... If you have the L or R adjust pressed, the mirrors will tilt down. If you press the "Lit" selector, "L" for example, the light goes off, and the mirrors will not tilt down.

I use this every day. Backing out of my garage, I don't want tilt so I can clearly see the garage door frame.

Backing into my parking space at work, I DO want the tilt down so I can clearly see that I'm positioned correctly between the parking lines.

Oh yeah and PLEASE move the panic button on the remote. The only two buttons you need to hold (panic and trunk release) are right next to each other...really?!!?!

I'm glad that you brought this one up. The panic button shouldn't be as large and prominent as it is, plus it needs to be recessed (as it is on every other remote I've had). I've had mine less than 6 months and have accidentally set it off several times without even reaching into my pocket. Last time I simply bent my leg to get out of the car and it pressed against my ID folder.

I purchased a silicon cover for my remote...that should help the accidental pushing of buttons...also it protects remote if dropped :)

As someone above already stated...#2 is already an option.

#3 is also already possible. Just hit the start button one more time than you are (without your foot on the brake) and you can have the radio on, put windows up/down, close the sunroof, etc...

It's also the LARGEST button on the FOB. Which makes for a lot of accidental presses. I get that they're trying to make it easy to push in the event of an emergency , but Murphy's Law tells me that I would end up popping the truck by mistake in the heat of the moment. Much safer and more functional and had a completely separate

Man I'm way over 5...but another very important thing (realized it this past weekend, first time I've had rear seat passengers)

-no rear power?! rear sunshades and heated seats but not so much as a cigarette lighter? Or powered USB? yikes, huge oversight IMO
