One data point: Fob began working unreliably (lock/unlock) and new batteries made all new. Six years from date of manufacture of car so batteries a bit older than that. Low-mid use over that time. Fair deal.
In a previous car (infiniti) I was locked out with keys IN car. That cannot/should not happen. At second such event, which involved walking several blocks home, I went to local Batteries+ store and the kind gentleman said with low power the communication device in fob transmits odd commands. Clear sign of low battery/voltage inconsistency.
If this happens with all my remotes for devices around my house this would become the Twilight Zone episode of "Revenge of the Machines".
