  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

One data point: Fob began working unreliably (lock/unlock) and new batteries made all new. Six years from date of manufacture of car so batteries a bit older than that. Low-mid use over that time. Fair deal.

In a previous car (infiniti) I was locked out with keys IN car. That cannot/should not happen. At second such event, which involved walking several blocks home, I went to local Batteries+ store and the kind gentleman said with low power the communication device in fob transmits odd commands. Clear sign of low battery/voltage inconsistency.

If this happens with all my remotes for devices around my house this would become the Twilight Zone episode of "Revenge of the Machines".

YMMV

Interesting, I've found that my 2023 G70 remote burns through batteries incredibly quickly. I changed the first one out after ~7 months, and the second one another ~7 months later. Both times I started to experience intermittent function, and working better on the passenger side than the driver side or rear. Changing the battery corrected the problem both times.

How do you know what independently defines quickly? What brand are your batteries and what is the date on the package?
Is your fob stored close to your car, 10-15 feet?

"Uh, yes, I had the ETL and the SAE review my data set and testing procedure, and concluded that my experience, does in fact, constitute a statistically accurate sample of quickly. Only Energizer branded CR2023 batteries dated February 2024 and July 2024 were used and pretested to confirm that they had in excess of 98% of the minimum charge available."

WTF is your problem? That's kind of a pompous way to respond to someone just sharing their experience. I'm happy to hear any constructive thoughts and advice, but demanding if someone "knows what independently defines quickly" is not helping anyone. I define "quickly" as quicker than I've experienced in 5 or 6 other cars I've had with proximity keys over the last 10-15 years, and clearly quicker than the OP.

My keys are stored ~15-20 feet away from the car through several drywall walls; all the other cars were parked and keys stored in the same place. Both my previous Cadillac and my wife's F150 seem to have a longer range to their remotes than the G70 if that means anything.

The first battery was the one supplied with the car, which just came off a boat from Korea two weeks before I took delivery. The second battery was new Energizer with a pretty recent date, within a couple months of the installation. The third battery was from the same package.

I was just trying to get something quantitative from your qualitative description. I thought you were looking for and explanation and possible solution. My mistake.

Well, I did note in my first post that the batteries each lasted about 7 months, and felt that this was quickly to me; so I've provided the quantity along with my qualitative description.

Sure, I'm open to explanations and solutions - happy to hear your thoughts and ideas on the problem without criticizing my simple description of my experience.
