If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Defective Window Switch?

I've got a 2010 4.6 and have this problem too. I've identified it as moisture on the switch, either when I leave the windows cracked and get unexpected rain or when it is raining and I open the door to get in or out. The problem then exists intermittently for a week or so. Usually it's just the front windows. I find if I open close the back windows a couple of time, the front windows will then work. I also try to wiggle the front switches hoping to break through the "corrosion".

It's aggravating.

I haven't had this happen lately. But, seeing the comment about the mirrors not working reminded me that mine had not worked at least once in the past several months. I've also had the back windows not work when the fronts wouldn't respond.

I don't know about that the windows roll down by itself. But I remember to reading in manual that it's not recommended to roll down two windows at the same time. Only one at the time,it was long time ago,I don't remember exactly where it was listed. Could this create some issues if you roll down two or all windows at the same time?

Has anyone found a solution for this?

I have a 2012 Genesis Sedan. Sometimes the driver window switch does not work. All the other window switches work. I also noticed the driver mirror will not adjust when the window switch problem occurs.

I found some brand new hyundai genesis master switch on ebay but the listing does state that the switch requires programming to the car for it to be functionable.

I'm also in California. El Monte win hyundai is garbage. I've been going to cerritos norm reeves hyundai and they wanted to charge $600-700 for the switch to be changed.

I had the switch problem about a year ago. I found a switch panel on E-bay for $65.00 and the problem was solved until today. Once again the window wouldn't go up until I activated the switch several times. I noticed that the side mirror back-up deflection feature stopped working a short time ago. An aside to an earlier post: you don't need to remove the door panel; just carefully prise out the switch panel with a butter knife (two work best to get enough of the panel lifted at first). info@autoalexparts.com is in California; they have switch panels for less than $100.00.

Basic problem here: The gadgets on these cars are the subject of innumerable posts.

Yet the mfg's have yet to produce reliable switches.

the problem I believe is that it is quite easy to collect rain in the master drivers switch. I replaced this switch some months ago, and my weird switch issues have disappeared. When I roll down the drivers window now whenever there is some moisture around I keep my hand over the switch to block the moisture from hitting it. I bought a NOS master switch on ebay for $35.
My advice is just replace the switch and skip the rest of the frustrating troubleshooting. Yes it is a bad design of the switch position or maybe even a poorly designed switch, but the fix is relatively cheap and easy.
--Now if you want to hear about the 3 times I replaced the $30 blend door in my old Lincolns.....

Add me to the list of front window switch problem-havers. Had all four windows down, only the rears would roll back up. Waited overnight, then got them to go back up. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't reproduce the problem.

I can't believe it's a corrosion/moisture issue as it hasn't rained here in many months. Also, BOTH front windows having the exact same issue, with BOTH issues disappearing at the same time? Doesn't sound at all like a mechanical/switch problem, particularly since neither the driver's side nor passenger's side window controls would raise the passenger's window.

Having had it happen once, I'm nervous about rolling the windows down again, what with the rainy season coming soon. Sucks.

This car has other switched motor issues: at one point the driver's seat would adjust forward but not backward. The dealer removed the seat and said there was a loos connection, which I took as nonsense, but the problem has not recurred.

Honestly, I think the answer is rebooting the car several times. There's a controller somewhere in the car for window/seat logic that has issues. I know my audio system sometimes refuses to initialize as well, requiring a restart of the car.

The badge says "Genesis", but the electronics say "Accent".

Hey all, just picked up a '13 5.0 R-spec and this is my first post here, hope it helps someone:

I ran into this problem recently (hence ending up on this thread) and wanted to share my experience -- if the window stops responding, I give it the old Fonzi treatment. A quick rap to the switch area with the heel of my hand fixes the problem every time. Just don't go all-out... keep your strength in check, haha.

Give it a shot, certainly not a long-term fix but at least it gets the window up when you need it! It also fixes my intermittent "door unlock switch is dead" problem.

I do the same..... hahaha Getting a new switch from Dealer

Hi all, I have the same problem with my 2011 V6 sedan. Today when it happened i noticed that the side mirror switch also gets affected. I live in Miami, FL and it's just getting really annoying. From what I read here, even if i change out the whole master driver switches the problem may come back. Sounds to me like a defect in the design since it's intermittent and comes back even when replaced.

Has anyone found out a permanent fix for this? I like the car but this makes me question the long term reliability of my 2011 Genesis.

Hi, just wondering what you plan on doing now that the problem returned after working fine after you replaced the part with one from E-bay? I have the same problem & want to fix it... or should i just live with it?

I replaced my master switch with a NEW switch months ago and no recurring issues. I would not buy a used switch even though it seems to initially work. And I think that the problem can and will recur if one allows the new switch to get wet.

Just curious. how much does a new switch cost? Mine is intermittent. I have to literally HOLD the switch really hard in order for the drivers side window to go up. Works but is annoying.

I've had my switch replaced about 2 yrs ago. The problem returned about 6 months ago. My temporary "fix" is to lower all the windows then my driver's side windows (and all others) work properly.

How much of a PITA is it to remove the door panel?

You dont have to remove the entire door panel. It takes about 15 mins (well for me) I just remove the bolts on the cup of the door handle (where you grab to close the door) and pull slowly from the bottom. You can literally do what you need to do from the bottom up and you wont have to remove the entire door panel.

Its been posted before, but prying up the switch with a wide flat blade screwdriver or knife is possible. No need to remove the door panel. My new old stock master door switch was $65 from ebay.

I have been having the same issue for like a year now on my 2012 genesis 3.8! The windows is randomly stop working. For me, if you smack your door where the switch wires would be, it starts to work again.

I do the same thing, smack the lower wood piece of the drivers window module. Seems like it jams the connections or rust or something and helps the intermittent issue. For now I'm just keeping my existing module.
