  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Defective Window Switch?

For what it's worth, I brought the car (still under warranty for 5,000 more miles) to the dealer and they agreed to replace the master switch stuff in the driver door, including door lock control. I had a video showing the malfunction, but they didn't even care to see it. Your mileage may vary.

I have been having the same issue for like a year now on my 2012 genesis 3.8! The windows is randomly stop working. For me, if you smack your door where the switch wires would be, it starts to work again.

Thanks. It worked!

I have a 2011 Genesis & had this issue over a year. No rhyme or reason when it happens but took me about 6 months of frustration before I found my “inner Fonzie” & now one smack, window goes right up.

One other thing. I had the front drivers side stuck for about a week. I had to get a jump start, as one morning the battery was dead. After the jump start, the window worked again. Weird.

I wonder if the battery being dead did a reset on something. Great that it works.

OK this just happened to me today, I used my FOB to unlock my car and the rear driver side window went down. I started the car and couldn't get it to work at all but the other windows work fine. On my way to the dealer I tried one last time, I hate waiting at the dealer:) and it went up. I thought that was the end but once I put the car in park the same window went down and didn't work while in park with the car on. To get the window to work I left the car on rolled it up while in gear turned the car off then put in park, also I had to use the handle to lock the car if I use the FOB it opens the window again. just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and knows the cause?

I just bought my 2013 in May and a few weeks ago I tried to roll down my front windows and there was a delay and they would move down, stop, move some more, stop...etc. I put them up in fear of them breaking in the down position. Then they wouldn't work for a week (the rears worked though). I could get the passenger front to work if I used the passenger side window switch. Then they all started working on their own one day with no further issues.
I didn't initially see any screws on the door to consider removing the door panel. I'm new to the forum. Are there any pictures or videos of such?

I found if I firmly hit the door panel with the side of my hand just near the switches while seated in the driver's seat, 90% of the time they will work. The other 10% requires another hit. Seems like a bad contact, but not bad enough to remove the door panel over (yet).
