  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm looking at switching polishing compound. Do you guys really like Chemical Guys? I have been researching them along with Griots. Winter takes a huge beating on my car so I need to buy new stuff now.

I skip Griot's polishes because their effectiveness and cut is so vaguely advertised.

I have used Meguiar's M105 and M205 with success but find that Meg's Ultimate Compound is a nice in-between, and since it isn't a "professional-line" product it is easy to find. Meg's Ultimate Polish is also easily available. Both have abrasives that break down during use to a less abrasive finish.

May try Menzerna's when this bottle runs out, but kind of turned off by the extensive line of products (400, 1000, 2000, 2500, 4000, PS, CS, etc).

Meguiar's D151 is a good one step too. Although it's a one step, I still top it with Meguiar's ultimate wax. It's one of their more durable sealants. And by durable I mean it barely lasts a month lol. Any of you guys know a good, durable sealant for a daily driver?

i've had great results with Blackfire wet diamond All finish paint protection... :D

I've looked into that actually. Wasn't sure I could justify $35 for 16 oz. does it really work as well as it claims?

it works good... you don't need a lot.. i don't remember paying that much for it...

or you could do a Chemical guys polyseal

Great info guys, I might switch back to Meguiars for the polishing part and might look at the Blackfire for sealant. I drive a decent amount so I want something that will last and not have to re-apply every month. I normally use Eagle One Wax as you dry during the summer.

i found a local guy that does paint correction and is certified to apply C quarts Finest... I can only do so much as i'm not a pro.. today i clayed bared it was bad especially the hood and trunk.. polished hood, fenders and rear, applied CG black light to whole car, then Blackfire on hood, fenders, and trunk... i got lazy and skipped the doors...

need to polish the dual tips.... i have a product called white diamond polish.. works very well..

Have you guys tried stuff from collinite? Their reviews sound good. Carnauba that has longevity of a sealant, allegedly.

i've heard of that but never used it... there's a lot of good products out there.. Auto store had some new Megs polish and spray wax in white bottles with a black label... i've never seen that before..

I've been using AMMO products for over a year and I love them. What does everyone else use to keep their cars looking great?

Some of the very best on the market. Not nearly as well known as some other brands, but, waaay better than most anything else.

Collinite is excellent and prices are VERY reasonable. Yup, their wax is darn near as long lasting as some sealants and easier to apply than any sealant w/out the danger of streaking like most sealants. (especially black)

I didn't realize chemical guys stuff is available on Amazon prime. That's a game changer

Way better stuff available than CG. They have a "few" good products, but, it's a hit 'n' miss with them. I'd stay with Meguiar's Ultimate or Detailer line (also available on Amazon and the Ultimate line available on Amazon and Wally World.)

Griot's is a good product line IMO but Ammo is really really steady throughout the product line.
