  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am looking at buying a pre-owned Genesis early next year. I am interested in finding one that has the premium and tech package. Some of the details of the package from what I have read online are a bit vague. What is the deal with the voice activated stuff, and the guy at the dealer mentioned the possibility for it to interact with my iPhone siri. Those of you have have this package, what's the real deal, and do you really use all the cool gadgets or is it just nice to have stuff that won't make much of a difference?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have a 2011 4.6 with tech . We use the active cruise and voice commands everyday. Also love the active turning and leveling headlights. A 4.6 v8 with the tech package comes standard with more goodies than a v6.

I would not count on it interfacing with Siri unless you try it. You can download the Genesis Owner's Manual and manual for Tech Package at www.hmaservice.com

Thanks for the feedback. What exactly are you capable of doing with the voice commands? I need to visit the dealership again, as the guy who I talked to wasn't much help. I will need to find someone with more knowledge to understand what the tech package includes.

A technology package car will not stream Bluetooth audio. I doubt that it will connect with iphone Siri either. Add an older used car into the mix and your are expecting too much. Siri was born relatively recently.

The Tech Package works with Siri. If you initiate Siri with the long push on the home button, you can talk to her through the car's hands-free speakers. I have used Siri to do things like tell it to play a song or album, send a text to someone, and to find an address for someone or a place.

I assume that the other packages would also work with Siri the same way. It is just coming over the hands free. There is no car integration with Siri.

Keep in mind that there have been some minor changes to the Tech Package and Apple integration over the years. What works with a 2012 may not work with a 2010. I would test it out before-hand if someone wants to know if it works.

Good general advice. Siri looks like a normal phone call to the car. Siri works with every in-car hands free system I have seen, back to a 2002 BMW. So, it will probably work with all years and option packages of our Genesis cars.

Okay, I have confirmed that my iphone 5 Siri works with my 2012 "premium package only" Genesis. This means that the technology package is not needed for that to work. Of course, I must admit that I have little confidence in using Siri to begin with, especially while driving.

I just picked up an iPhone 5 and it paired to my '11 Genesis w/ Tech Pkg.

The problem I am experiencing is when I press and hold the home button to activate Siri the Bluetooth initiates dialing my own cell number.

Anyone have this issue? Fixes?

The screen presents the Siri connection as a phone call to your own number. However, Siri works as usual over the car's hands-free speakers. Is Siri not responding to voice commands in your car? There are options on the phone to turn Siri on and off, what is the setting?

Not responding to voice commands because it thinks I am trying to make a call. I see the Siri icon (microphone and purple vertical bar) but does not respond to my voice request.

There is a tiny icon next to the Siri mic picture that selects whether it is working through Bluetooth or the phones mic. What is it set to? It should be Genesis BT.
