  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all, I recently purchased the Genesis G70 3.3 AWD Design Edition. I purchased it in Virginia during August 25 and will register in Connecticut. I still have not received any new plates.

The dealership mentioned to just relax and let them handle everything. So far I have not relaxed because my fellow friends in New York already received their plates from Lexus and BMW.

Lexus and BMW issue plates now? I always got them from the state. I do know CT shut down a lot of DMV offices with covid stuff

State issues them but they are usually delivered to the dealer who then hands off to the owner.

Some dealers sent a runner to the DMV for tags but the offices have been closed, then opened by appointment only. Some are just getting back. A Virginia dealer has to do it by mail or a local contact to hand carry paperwork.

Thank you, this appears to make a lot of sense. In the case of BMW and Lexus, my friends had to go pick them up at the dealership as the DMV shipped the plates to them.

I'm guessing DMV issue, not dealership.

in CA the only appointments are for required to renew road tests. Cannot schedule an appointment for anything else, registration, new vehicle, license renewal where no road test is required, Real-ID, etc.

everything has to be done online and it is taking forever. My Drivers License was auto-renewed for 5 years, and expires 11-2, I wanted a Real-ID but can't get an appointment to get it, so I have to now pay double, the renewal fee and the Real-ID fee whenever they open back up. I sent in my renewal via online back in August and still haven't received my new Driver's License, the DMV website says it is "pending" and you can't get through if you call.

I need to register my new e-bike, which is rated as a "moped" in CA due to new idiotic e-bike laws, but I am unable to make an appointment for that. So I am just hoping I don't get pulled over by some bored LEO and cited for it.

My county register of deeds (property/marriage/birth/death/notary oath) is online with appointments only for items requiring physical verification and filing. The website says to expect delays and if personal appearance is required anticipate appointment at some future date (unspecified). Quickie wedding, sorry. Quickie wedding also requires magistrate and that is also a reservation only option. That is more advance planning than any quickie wedding participants can muster.
Thus DMV is a version of this I assume.
My wife recently realized her driver license expired three months ago and she went online and they extracted 35$ for a paper she could print and the promise that a real one would be in the mail at some time. Do not come to the license branch, do not call.

Yea renewed my registration (northern Ca) over a month ago and still waiting for the sticker - I called (2 hr wait time so requested a call back) and 3 hours later was told it could take up to 8 weeks. COVID had set them back quite a bit- he said they’re 1-3 months behind. Usually would receive it in 10-14 days in normal circumstances

Her license arrived this week, 2-3 weeks after submission of request and her payment.

One of my friends bought my wife's old car from us in NYC, and was able to do the registration entirely online and get the plates by mail. Some silver linings in COVID...
