If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I recently purchased a Genesis R-Spec. I was wondering if I got a decent deal as I am having some buyers remorse I think more so because it is a rather large purchase for me and the family not the decision on car choice itself. Got the ride for 39.5k before taxes and title. I absolutely love the car and I see so many others feel the same.

Thank you and hope to post pics once i figure out how.

I think you got ripped off. Several people have posted that they got a new 2012 R-Spec for about $36K.

Thank you for the response. Well, it was kind of new... It was the owners Demo car and had 5500 miles but it did come with some aftermarket wheels (niche). Plus all the normal stuff included with the R-Spec. Plus free oil changes for 3 years. Does that still sound like a good deal?

Mark, just saw your reply scared to see your next reply after more specifics. Do you think the discrepency could be location?

I don't believe these people are actually buying their new R-Specs at $7,000 under an invoice price of $43K+. There are big fish in them waters, but a 5 ft. trout??

Dealer cost on R-Spec is: $41,998

Dealer Cost is a dealer's actual cost for a vehicle after subtracting all holdbacks, incentives, manufacturer-to-dealer rebates, advertising incentives, promotional fees, and any other consideration which will be paid by the manufacturer to the dealer. +/- $1000 for market value.

Factory Invoice: $44,393

Factory Invoice is the amount that a manufacturer initially charges the dealer for a vehicle, including the destination charge, regional ad fees and other fees charged to the dealer by the manufacturer. This price does not include discounts, dealer incentives, or holdbacks (money allocated back to the dealer upon sale). +/- $1000 for market value.

So at $39k for one with 5500 miles on it with some added options it seems you got a decent deal. Market value (what people are paying in my area) ranges from $41k-45k, unless you do a lot of shopping around way outside of your market then the deal you got is nice. Congrats on your new car :) and welcome to the forums !!

Thank you. :) I noticed you have a KN air filter, did you notice any improovements?

The OP knows he got a great deal, and is just gloating in this thread and trying to show off. So I figured I would be just as much as a jerk as he is.

I think any discussion about "deals" is a waste of time unless all detailes of the deal are revealed. Too often I see people post really good out the door prices and then later we learn that they took a big hit on the trade-in.

Also, I can get a much better deal on any car here in LA than I ever could when I was living in Portland, OR. Way more competition here.

Finally, you may not have gotten the best, best deal on the car but you may on a house. These things have a way of working out.

In closing, you didn't come to us prior to buying the car to check on the "deal" so you must have really wanted that car. You negotiated the best deal for the car you really wanted so enjoy it.

Life is too short to linger on past deals that are done.

Wow Mark, beings you don't know me and just assume that I am as you describe is suprising. I have read many post and have noticed that you normally have great opinion. No lie, i was hoping you would respond but more informational not to judge me.

Gloating I am not, I am honestly just hoping I did ok because this was a very large purchase for me and even though i love the car I am still struggling to swallow the new payment. Trying to put my mind at ease and thought no better way than to get the opinions of those who talk about the Genesis everyday.

I have a final walk through with the dealer tomorrow. Thats why I wanted opinions from the pros that have already walked this path.

True to the feedback. Feel like i made the wrong impression, as to my post back to Mark and to agree with what you stated... I did at the time feel like it was a good deal but doesnt mean it was. I again honestly just wanted opinions in hopes to confirm i made a decent choice and could sleep better at night.

Believe it or not, i have been referencing this site for months now but reallly only focused on the 3.8L because that was ultimately what i was looking to get. Never imagined to walk out with a rspec.

You should have been able to figure out the dealer cost (after holdbacks returned to dealer) and know whether or not you got a good deal.

Whether or not an R-Spec is wise purchase for you and your family is another matter that I cannot answer for you. No deal is a good deal if you personally can't afford it, or if you should be spending money on other things for your family or saving money for the future.

Got my new Rspec 2 weeks ago for $41,225.... Really wanted to get it under $40k, but the dealer wouldnt get there.

You got a good deal. I paid $39,600 for my R-spec with 1000 miles on it. I used the circle price, rebates and some negotiation to subtract for the mileage. I also did not trade anything in. Curiously, the dealership had 1 other R-spec on the lot with 5k miles on it. As the flagship Genesis, I wonder why these cars are being allowed to accumulate so many miles.

Wanted to thank everyone for the feedback and want to sincerely apologize if i at all came off as bragging because that was not my intention, just not the way I am. Not sure if it is obvious but i have never been part of a forum until now and really dont want to rub any one the wrong way considering i would want more feedback and even be helpful maybe to others as well in the future. I hope you will excuse the nube.

i felt it was a good deal but again that doesnt mean i am right. Just because i should be able to afford it doesnt mean i didnt get ripped off' i am sure you could tell when i responded to the commment of them going for 36k that i did not doubt you at all.

Bottom Line is I would have to live with it regardless but just wanted your input. Thank you and i hope you will accept my apology if i was out of line at all. I would appreciate to have feedback in the future if i have question or concerns.

How can you get ripped off when you pay less than the dealer paid for the car (after allowing for all kickbacks, etc). Can you please explain that to me?

Now it is rather strange that well after you asked whether you got a good deal for the specific price you mentioned, you later revealed that the car was a demo with 5500 miles, which explains why you paid less than a brand new car would cost the dealer.

So the question is: Did you get a good deal on a demo with 5500 miles? Check with Edmunds and other web sites.

I guess you are a bit naive, since you bought the line hook, line, and sinker about it being the "owners" demo.

I'd imagine you would see even more of a benefit using one with that big 5.0L engine. My highway miles went up almost 4.5 miles per gallon, also you have the GDI system which my car doesn't have.

i never once said it was new. Another member mentioned if i got it new it was a good deal and I did not indicate in the initial post but once again it appears you are assuming that was intentional also.

sorry i asked for opinons and did not use edmunds. Again, completely new to forum and was not aware that this question or specific way a question is asked would ruffles feathers or that it was inappropriate.

I am not sure why you are trying to pick me apart when all I wanted was opinions.

Now, since you know the car is or is not a Demo with 5500 miles and after market wheels......

So are you saying it is not demo? not a good deal? that was my whole purpose for opinion.
