  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thought this might be interesting if people add some features some of us may not know about.

Today I learned when you start the car you can not turn off the radio when the system is booting up. Say you left the car with the volume loud, and then start it back up you have to turn the volume down with the knob, rather than pressing the off button.

I've also learned if the 'auto' wipers are not acting right, if you push the lever down to 'on' and back to 'auto' it seems to reset the system and it works again.

I've been noticing the radio volume issue you mentioned. I always thought that was a flaw with my system. Glad you mentioned it.

Great idea for a thread. I hope people update it frequently. I can't think of anything to add right now but if/when I do I will make sure I post it in here.

Tips and tricks:

Step 1 - located button in car that has a picture of a car with squiggly lines (traction control).

Step 1.5 - drive to an empty lot somewhere.

Step 2 - hold the button down for about 3-5 seconds to disengage traction and stability control.

Step 2.5 - roll your windows up.

Step 3 - left foot on the brake pedal, hold it down firmly. While simultaneously, with your right foot, press down on the gas pedal.

Step 3.5 - hold on to the steering wheel.

Step 4 - smoky burnout :)

Step 5 - I don't know if this applies to the V6 version...also, I do not condone reckless behavior. Please do not blame me if the cops pull you over.

Turn on cruise
Before setting speed - press and hold distance control - disables smart cruise (acts as regular cruise). Hold again to re-enable.

That's a good one.

Shortly after getting my car I knew there had to be a way to do this. Took me about 10 mins of tinkering on the interstate out in the middle of nowhere to finally figure it out. Should've just looked in the manual but that would have been too easy haha.

Great Thread!
I noted in another thread that there were many complaint's that the rear Sun Shade would retract when the car was put in reverse and remained down when the car was placed into drive.
My 2006 Toyota Avalon reacted the same way.
In my 2016 Ultimate the rear sun shade now return's to it's deployed position when placed into the drive mode.
Nice feature.:)

Great thread, looking forward to reading through the tips

SECRET FEATURE

Press Climate -> Menu -> uncheck rear climate

With this setting unchecked the rear climate DOES still work.. but it enables AUTO-OFF! It turns off automatically when the drive ends and regardless of the rear controls being on. Next time, it will be off, you move the rear climate control a little manually, then it will turn on. So you never have the rear climate on unless someone is currently in the back and they want to turn it on. Still FULLY operable. It's just a secret auto-off.

Hope that makes sense. I dont usually have passengers so this is good for me since i can leave the controls for weeks at a time. I recommend you eventually manually turn off the controls periodically so it's clearer to subsequent passengers

I have the base model and it appears to me that the rear climate auto offs even when the rear climate is checked in setup. maybe i need to do some more testing.
