Differences between non GDI and GDI 3.8 Engine Covers

Does anybody know if the cover for the 3.8 GDI (12'-14') will fit the non 3.8 GDI (09'-11') engine? If anybody has a picture showing the bottom side of both covers with mounting locations that would be great. Posted this in the how do you take the engine cover off thread but that one is really old.

I checked the price recently on a online parts store (run by a Hyundai dealer), and I believe there was about a $100 difference between the two covers (GDI version was less expensive), so I kind of doubt they are the same underneath. Even if the clips are the same, I think there is other stuff that makes them different.

Never having seen both covers to compare is why I'm asking, but I doubt they are identical since they have different part numbers. Just want to know how different they are. Anyone with a GDI be willing to pull theirs off and take some pics of it?

For one thing, the GDI ones say GDI. But there are differences underneath, related to some noise reduction stuff or something. Not sure if the clips are in the same place. I would get the correct one from an online junkyard. Looks to be easy to paint if necessary (black and silver paint).

Anyone with a 3.8 GDI pop your cover off and take a picture I would appreciate it. Don't feel like spending money on a piece of plastic to find out it wont fit.

Images of the non-GDI cover

Almost a year later here are pics of the non GDI engine cover. I'd appreciate it if someone could post a few similar images of a GDI cover. All you have to do is pull up on the cover to remove it. Super easy.

Can really tell much from that other than they appear different up top. Doesn't show the connection points which is what I'm concerned with, well that and oil fill location. Can't imagine that change moved the mounting point.Does anyone on here not have a GDI 3.8???

I would bet a few dollars that the mounting points are different. First, they moved the oil filter to below the engine on the GDI (instead of on top near the firewall).

Second, the 2009-2011 cover fits around the air intake on the left side, and it looks like the GDI does not (from the part catalog drawing I posted).

Why would you even want a GDI cover on a non-GDI engine?

Want to put the Prada 3.8 Engine Cover but mine isn't a GDI. Since it is super rare and expensive wanted to see if it would be worth it.
