  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have asked questions like this before but here goes, does anybody on the forum know if there is ANY difference between the 2013 and 2014?
Bill

I have no personal knowledge, but someone posted a while back that when they did a test drive, the 2014 transmission shifted better than prior models. Some people have previously complained about shifting lags at slow speeds and also some down shift problems in prior models.

Might be some minor enhancements to audio system, such as Blue Connect, etc, but just guessing.

Edmonds claims: "For 2014, Hyundai retuned the steering on the Genesis 3.8 trim level for better feel. In addition, the 3.8 gets standard 18-inch wheels, and the Genesis 5.0 now offers an optional heated steering wheel."

The only differences that I'm aware of are much better incentives on the remaining 2013 models... which is why I moved from a 2011 to a 2013 instead of a 2014. The difference between the 2013 and the 2011, however? Huge!

Mark_888, Blue Link is available on the 2013.

Wait... I think I found the key difference between the 2013 and the 2014: auto-dimming outside mirrors on the 2014.

Auto-dimming outside mirrors were at least part of the Tech trim on the 4.6 in 2009.

I'm not so sure about that on the V6 line. Auto-dimming rearview mirror? Yes. Auto-dimming outside mirrors? I don't think so. My 2011 was a V6 premium/tech and it did not have auto-dimming outside mirrors (but did have an auto-dimming rearview mirror). My 2013, also a premium/tech V6, is the same. The mirrors don't have the telltale signs of auto-dimming, and the specs don't list that as a feature.

According to the specs on the 2014, however, auto-dimming outside mirrors is a feature available on the V6 premium/tech package. I would love to see the specs on a 2009-2013 that specifically lists auto-dimming outside mirrors, because I want that option, but all signs point to it being missing from V6 models prior to 2014.

EDIT: Hm... it appears you drive a V8. I drive a V6. Looks like our perspectives are different, so we are both right.

Makes sense, thanks for the clarification: v6 & v8!

My '09 V8 has the auto-dimming side view mirrors. So it must be an option on the V6, right?

My 2013 Rspec has auto dimming side and rear view mirrors.

Many times auto manufacturers do not list the small detail changes/ upgrades they make. Like the transmission shift complaints on prior models. Sometimes admitting an upgrade can really upset the guy who just put $40k or more down on the prior years model and is not happy. Ive seen this many times. Some may disagree, but the 2014 model could be the most reliable model yet. And yes , soon the 2014 pricing will be as good or better than the 2013's ---especially considering the 2015 model redesign. Thanks 7iBigblock Also the small changes can make for a much better driving car.

The 2014 V6 with tech/premium has auto dimming outside mirrors, comes standard with 18" tires and finally has Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering like the V8's.

The V6 Premium Package always had 18" rims, so I guess that the 2014 Base trim model does also. I have heard that will be the case for 2015 also.

Thanks for the information. I am R-spec bound (going to update but not to a 15) so I will see very few variations. Thanks for getting the lowdown from the source though.

Some people who have driven the 2014 (and posted on this forum) claim Hyundai made adjustments to transmission shifting, and the transmission lag problem has been virtually eliminated. These kinds of changes probably are not going to show up in the feature list. A test drive would probably confirm or refute that.

Your welcome Billfz1. I too might be pulling the trigger on the 2014 if the price of the 2015 is out of reach. I think we can get an awesome deal on the 2014's as soon as the 15's hit the lots. I wonder just how low we can pick one up for.
