  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was reading the Motor trend review of the R-spec and in the article they quoted that the front and rear rotors and calipers were the same size.

On mine there is a noticeable difference between the two. Is anyone else's R-spec like that? Just wondering..........

They're only talking about the front rotors. 13.6 on the 5.0 versus 13 for the 4.6.

5.0:
Brakes, front 13.6-inch ventilated with four-piston fixed calipers
Brakes, rear 12.4-inch solid with single-piston sliding calipers

4.6:
Brakes, front 13.0-inch ventilated disc, 4-piston fixed caliper
Brakes, rear 12.4-inch disc, single-piston floating caliper

It has larger brakes (up from 13.0 inches to 13.6 front and rear) clamped by four-piston calipers all the way around.

This is the quote from the article. Am i reading it wrong?? Maybe the magazine misquoted?

Hmm... interesting. Yes I will have to say that MT article is incorrect. Edmunds data is correct:

Also you can see from the shop manual that the rear is a single piston design.

I have a 2012 3.8. That shop manual you showed a link to shows a 12.60" single piston caliper for the 3.8 for 2012 in the front. However mine definetly has a four piston caliper and a 12.99" Rotor in the front. Was this an upgrade for the 3.8 also and it has not been corrected in the shop manual yet?

Thanks for the link, it'll come in handy

It's possible the manual is wrong but for the 2012 it lists:
Front Disc brake 3.8L
Type Ventilated disc
Disc O.D. 320mm (12.60in)
Disc thickness 28mm (1.10in)
Caliper piston Single
