Digital Key update

I see that Apple has released a new version of “digital car key” which should allow iPhones to be used on Genesis and Hyundai vehicles. To date only android phones would work with the Genesis digital Key.
Has anybody heard when Genesis is going to release the necessary IPhone app. ?

I believe that you are conflating 2 different things.

Soon, Apple will be releasing a version of iOS which will support both BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and UWB (Ultra Wide Band) for digital keys in Apple Wallet.

Also, the Connected Car Consortium (to which both Hyundai and Apple belong) just released the spec for version 3 of digital car keys. Version 3 adds support for UWB.

However, no Hyundai or Genesis models support UWB yet, so Apple and CCC future support for UWB are both irrelevant for current owners.

A story from January 2021 published on the BusinessKorea website claimed that Hyundai will support iOS digital car keys later this year. If true, Hyundai could add the NFC+BLE car key support from earlier versions of iOS similar to that used in recent BMW models. However, the BusinessKorea story is 3 paragraphs long, and does not quote any Hyundai employee or cite any source for the information, so caveat emptor.

Until Hyundai or Genesis say something: all we have is rumor.

Thank you. I have a digital key card and that works On my 21 Genesis but My daughter just purchased a new 2022 Santa Fe and the window sticker lists digital key is an included option. as always the dealership doesn’t know anything about it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure the digital key is not the digital key card. I think digital key refers to the (Android only) phone and the digital key card refers to the black credit card type device.

ios15.1 updates have digital key changes in the update. I dont think it will be long before you will only need your Iphone instead ok keys.

Spoke with a Genesis concierge service representative yesterday to ask about if / when Apple iPhones may be compatible with Genesis Digital Key - they confirmed that iPhones currently are not compatible, only Android phones at this time, however they said iphones should be added in the near future. By the age of the previous post, "near" may be relative...

I assume this is Apple being Apple and not the fault of Genesis. This is why I got rid of my Apples. Great phone, Great Tablet, Great watch, but you don't own it. You are not free to do what you want. With an Android, I can upload any program I choose without google sticking their nose in it.
I hope you guys get it soon. I know it is nice not to need your key if you want to drive your car. I don't use that feature often, but when I do it is real nice.

Any update? I have heard people are utilizing their iWatch to start the GV70.
