  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Digital Key

Using a phone as a "digital key" is totally different from using a phone app to remotely start, unlock, etc.
Using as a key, as an Android phone can do, does not involve an app---only the presence of the phone. Basically the same as using the key card. No distance use, only AT the car.
iPhones have no such ability at present, only Androids.
I don’t see it as being “totally different” but, rather as having two tools to accomplish the same task. That of unlocking, starting, operating, stopping and re-locking a GV80. The android is more convenient to use to accomplish the task because you aren’t first required to open an app but, nevertheless, both tools accomplish the same task. So, for me, the only difference is one of convenience.

It's totally different because you don't need to carry around a fob. You can't drive your car just with a Genesis App. The less stuff you have to carry around, the better.

You can also grant these additional "keys" to 3 other people for a period of up to 1 year, which comes in handy.

Good point Ellatan. I’m so used to putting a fob into my pocket that I hadn’t considered that aspect. That would be a totally different experience, hopefully one that we iPhone users can soon enjoy.

FYI - Digital Key showed up in my MyGenesis account for my 2023 GV80 today. Working like a charm on my Samsung Galaxy S21.

@Ellatan I followed your directions but don't see a "Genesis Digital Key" toggle option on the Data & Privacy tab. Does yours look different? 1659668571099.webp

Yes, sounds like you need to contact Genesis support to enable it. Without that toggle you will not be able to login into the Digital Key App.

Congrats!
Thank you! I will do that.

Today I was finally able to get my digital key setup and working. The first issue was the Genesis Connect site not having the digital key on it. When they finally got that corrected, my first attempt to set it up did not work. The app would keep saying it could not connect to the vehicle. So, I deleted the digitl key registration from the app and tried the setup again. This time it worked like it should. Now I can fully control the vehicle with my phone just like I have the key fob with me. Not planning on using my phone instead of the key fob, but it is nice to have a backup option.
