Dimming the Main Screen

Anyone have any idea if Hy will fix the stupid main screen dimming problem?

You can not dim it, you can turn it off. MAJOR FAULT in car.

The brightness/dimming is in the system settings you find by pushing the info button on the DIS consol. Its on page 275 of my Genesis DIS manual. Ypir Equus should be similar. My Mercedes has a similar menu also.

The dimming in the manual only applies to the lights everywhere BUT the main screen. The main screen on my Equus 2012 can NOT be dimmed. It can be shut off. Really is a major flaw that should be fixed. Try using your dimmer switch to dim it. Does NOT work.

The display brightness in my 2012 Equus is controllable through the DIS menu. It can also be turned off as you say by pushing the button on the instrument panel.

The brightness/dimming is ajusted through the DIS system not the switch for the dash lights. Its in the info settings of the DIS.

Major flaw.

The DIS controls for adjusting the display brightness are operational while driving. You may feel the need to pull over to do that, but I don't find it difficult to adjust on the fly, when needed(which isn't that often). No major flaw as far as I'm concerned.

The Genesis Tech package DIS screen - which I believe is fundamentally the same as the Equus screen - has the "daylight" brightness adjusted as Ruissimo and others posted/described. In the same System Settings menu there is an option "Display Dimming." This makes the display get less bright when the vehicle headlights are ON: either 67% of the "daytime" brightness in "Auto Mode" setting or 90% in the "Day Mode" setting. Some folks wish the display would dim even further though with the headlights. If the "Day Mode" option is selected it may appear too bright at night - a 10% drop is almost nothing especially if some folks think a 33% drop isn't enough.

Seems to me that Kemp will never be happy. Most folks would just thank you for telling them where the light switch can be found. Sometimes the fog of unnecessary anger obscures the reality of logic and the need for a tiny bit of graciousness.

Now, there is improvement to be made in the controls for brightness on my Nav screen. It does not allow for permanent separate settings for day and night brightness. I use the brightest setting for day, but have to darken the screen at night.

my previous ride...2007 acura RL had separate brightness settings for day and night.

if the equus had this, it would be ideal.

Since it doesn't, everytime I go between night/day...day/night...I have to go into the control settings and set to full brightness for day...and five notches from lowest level for night.

Yes that's exactly the same problem I noted just above on Jan 11.

Well, I have discovered a sort of fix. Leave the display on the map and it is dimmer than the other screens. I have been using the radio screen, which is like a flash light in the car.

Still stupid. The dimming function should dim ALL lights in the cabin.

Hopefully HQ will fix this.

Try holding the radio power button in for 4 seconds?
or issuing the voice command "DISPLAY OFF"
or "FRONT FULL DISPLAY OFF"

The Equus does have a display off button, but I don't think the Genesis does.
