  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody had their DIS knob quit working properly? I drove from LA to Phoenix yesterday and all was working fine. Today I noticed that the DIS knob no longer works right. If there is a list from which to choose, say five items, it will only toggle back and forth between the first two items. If I push the knob down, it will move to the last item and then it will only toggle between the last two items. It will never go to the middle choice. I can't enter street names either as all it does is toggle back and forth between "a" and "b". The same goes for changing channels. It will only toggle between the first two listed stations. The voice commands still work but the knob is DOA. Any ideas?:(:(

Lonny,

Did you ever get this corrected?

Sorry to hear that. Where are you located? I'm in Texas. When I talked to customer service this week, they say the knob is in back order. There are couple of dozens going to Georgia next week for existing orders. Next shipment is going to be in mid September.. looks like its bad parts.

Brought it to the dealer today. They said they have to order the part in and it will take 3-5 days to get it. They have already replaced one of these, so It may be a problem others will face.

Note that the cup holders are so very close to the DIS Knob. Very dangerous to have liquids in the holders, as they can spill on the knob.

Because I often have a coffee (Cafe Mocha) in my cup holder, I ALWAYS take the precaution to cover the DIS Knob with a cloth. I've never spilled any coffee or other liquid yet, as I'm careful, however just in case anything ever does spill, it will not get on, or under the knob.

Just a thought.

No spills of any sort here. I was using the knob to surf XM station when it suddenly ceased responding. Shut the car off and restarted to see if something just got hung up, but no, the thing just died.

DesertGen,

If you can get the part and fixed next week, let us know. I need to take a stick to the dealer and customer service. They swear it took 4 weeks to get the parts and nothing they can do about it.

Thanks

Will do...

Well, I did get mine fixed yesterday. I dropped my car off at Harbor Hyundai in Long Beach and left it all day. They did the software update but that did not fix the problem. Turns out the knob WAS bad. They knew that it had not been working for over 3 weeks, soooo - they took a knob off a new car on the lot and put it in my car. They then ordered one overnight (they said) to replace the one they "borrowed." It works fine, but the update erased everything so now I have to re-enter everything. But,at least I can use everything now. I am sorry to hear that others also had this problem, but sorta glad I was not alone in this!!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The part came in early this week and took it to fix it. It took less than an hour to fix it and the dealer throw in a free oil change.

Well, it's been a month now since I brought the car in to have this fixed. I am told that the part is on national back order. If Hyundai has any hopes of gaining a following for the Genesis they need to avoid things like this. I payed for a 4k sound system 9 months ago and have to live with it in a crippled state for more than a month.

The dealer is checking today to see if they can get some kind of firm date as to when the part will be available...

Aarrrggghhh!!!

Finally got this fixed yesterday. Dealer kept making promises they were not able to keep. It took 5 weeks to get the part! If this is the way Hyundai is going to service the Genesis I will not be keeping this car very long.

The dealer paperwork indicated that the part cost something like $300! They also did the airbag update while it was in. In addition I mentioned to them that my drivers side visor was swinging too freely. Their response: "We will have to order that", so I guess I will wait a month or so to hear from them.

Glad the DIS knob is finally fixed though!
