DIS knob?

I'm about 2 days away from taking ownership of a 2015 3.8 tech package when I noticed in some pics it did not have a DIS knob in the center console. At first I was concerned that this in fact was not a tech package, but then I noticed it did have side bolster and knee extended (which is touted as a tech package add on) and also had no blank buttons on the left. Is the DIS knob only available on the 2016 or on the ultimate? Is it going to be missed? Are you able to get one installed later or update to the 9 inch display?

Here are the features added in the 3.8 Ultimate Package for 2016 over and above the Tech Package (I assume it is the same as 2015):

• Genuine matte-finish wood trim and aluminum trim
• Full Color Heads-up Display
• Premium 9.2-inch touchscreen and DIS navigation with HD Display
• Lexicon 17-speaker Discrete Logic 7 surround sound audio
• Power trunk lid
• Dual-mode front vent control HVAC and CO2 Sensor

From the above, it appears that the 9.2 inch display and DIS are only with the Ultimate Package. If you have Tech Package only, you have the 14-Speaker audio system and no DIS (unlike 2009-2014 Genesis). It is unlikely that you could add the 9.2 display to a car with Tech Package only, unless you are willing to spend at least $10K, and even then a dealer might not agree to do it, as that would require changing a lot of things beside just the display itself.

Based on the way I sit in the car, I would be at the edge of my reach if I always had to use the touchscreen. VERY glad I have the knob.

I suppose I can use voice recognition and my phone for a lot of the functions. Will be using an iPhone. Thanks for the feedback

I have a 3.8 Tech package. Not having the knob isn't a huge deal....it would be nice but so was saving a couple thousand dollars on not getting it. You really don't even have to use the touchscreen much at all if you don't want to. Just use the actual physical buttons right in front of the shifter on the dash.

Even so, it's not like touching the screen is difficult.

How about upgrading to the HIDs or fog lights ? Is that a possibility or very expensive ?

The fog lights are standard with the Signature edition and above on the 2016. If you have a 2015, there are several threads in this forum on adding the fog lights.

HID swap is cheap and easy, all plug and play, plan on about 3 bills. I have had very good luck with Morimoto ( https://www.theretrofitsource.com/ )
