  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

DIS map update info

Will thy supply the security code, or is it already in our DIS?

Just call M&Soft and give them your ID; then they'll supply you the security code.

I pay $100 a month for unlimited minutes, txt, mms, internet, PAM (phone as modem), TV, and NAVIGATION from Sprint. The sprint Nav is awesome but only works when your in range. Forget about using it in the "sticks".

As a lessor with 1 year to go, I'll pass. Map/navi is the least used feature of my tech package, and the missing interstate extension isn't worth the $220

For the record, when I do use it it's flawless other than that.

But I'll let the buyer of my used (sorry, pre-owned) car upgrade if he/she wishes.

I live in Chicago and over this past weekend I needed to find my way to Rolling Meadows and the navigation could not find Rolling Meadows.
If it needs an update then we should get the first one free.
Rolling Meadows has been around since the 70s.
What exactly are they using?

Come on, I can see a street or highway missing, but a town of 25,000 in existence since 1955? I agree it's out of date, but why exagerate?

Rolling Meadows incorporated in 1955 as a city named for its gently rolling terrain, and soon began annexing land for future development. The town boomed during the 1950s and 1960s as businesses moved into the area. When Crawford's department store opened in the 1950s it was the largest in the northwest suburbs (it closed in 1993). An industrial park opened on North Hicks Road in 1958, and Western Electric opened a facility in the 1960s which employed 1,500 workers. Developers inundated the area with apartment buildings and by 1970 multifamily dwellings made up 35 percent of the total structures in Rolling Meadows. Ramblin' Rose North, renamed Meadow Trace, opened in 1966, followed by Three Fountains. Rolling Meadows complexes, however, suffered from a series of fires in the decade. This prompted the city to become more stringent in their building codes, which had allowed for frame multifamily structures. Single-family housing continued to flourish in Rolling Meadows as developers utilized the natural wooded setting for the subdivisions of Tall Oaks, Dawngate, and Creekside.

They're using the same Navteq data that everyone else was using in early 2008.

You mean this Rolling Meadows?

I was looking for the Meadows Club on Golf Rd.
I do not have the address with me, but it was like 266 Golf rd.
I typed out East,West,or just Golf Rd. After entering the street it would show a list of towns or cities which Rolling Meadows was not. I could not even type it out.
I did find the location without the Navigation and it was not located on Golf but on a road named Apollo or something like that.
I still could not find it on the Nav.

If some street names are, "North 2nd St" or "South Water Street" I've found that just "N" for north works and "S" for South.

For 2nd street, I think I use the number 2 and not "TWO". I wish you could just enter the town or city and not have to have an address. That should be obvious.

M&Soft sez that the update should come out shortly. The 2010 Sonata one is already in stock atm.

Hi Guys;
Latest info is map update "sometime in mid- March".
I cannot believe that Hyundai allows this nonsense to continue without issuing a statement.
1. Hyundai customer service says to call M&Soft
2. M&Soft says: (depending on who you speak to)
a. Update is ready but waiting for "Corporate" to release
b. Update is ready but waiting for Hyundai to authorize
c. Call back in 3 or 4 weeks
d. Update is ready but Hyundai has not paid licensing fees.
e. Call Hyundai
f. It's all George Bush's fault

You would think that they would learn a lesson about communicating with customers from Toyota.......

"Yes, Virginia....there is a NAV update for the Genny."

I just got off the phone with Matt Fluchel at Dave Mungenast Hyundai in St. Louis. He's the Service Manager at the dealership, not the parts guy.

He did indeed do a NAV update this month on smhirsch's Genny 4.6L w/tech package, and he's got the 3-CD set to do it (matter of fact he's got 2 sets of the CD's). He said the CD's do not have a part number on them, but he's going to check with his regional rep on Monday to see if he can get one. He couldn't understand why other Service Mangers couldn't track this down.

The update CD's only work on Genny's with the tech package (i.e., joystick control on the center consol). It also does take about 3 hours for the update. He said the first time he did it on smhirsh's Genny, the first 2 CD's worked fine, but the third one failed, and he had to start over (so it was actually about a 6 hour event).

Matt said he' e-mail back what he finds out to me next week. I'll keep you posted on what I learn. Keep you fingers crossed!!

According to a TSB it does require a security code so no sharing. You have to call M&Soft and provide them your DIS ID and then they'll give you the code for it.
