before I moved south, I ran 2 sets of rims and tires, summers and blizzak winters, I would not go to an all season tire for anything. I call them no season because they suck all year.
 
I have had my job transferred two times, once to MN and once to WI, and I quit and found a new job both times. But these days a lot of people can work from home on bad weather days, so not sure if it would be such a big deal now for me.

As for the OEM tires, the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2's are not the best all-season tires for snow. It is mostly a matter of tread compound, but the good ones are expensive. Some have noted that the OEM tires also flat-spot a lot in winter, unlike the better tires that are available these days with more sophisticated materials.

I'd probably quit and move if I worked in those places myself, but I'm in NJ and our winters are not so bad or so long as to need to flee just yet.

The Hankook's definitely flat spot - but I don't find it to be a big deal as it quickly goes away once moving. They are otherwise good tires - good grip when warmer and in the rain and quiet/nice riding. However, I'm going to get a set of good winter tires to improve travtion on packed snow and ice as that's definitely a weakness for the Hankooks.

A little real-world experience: I have a 2012 rwd 3.8. Last winter I was in a snow storm up in the Poconos. I was in a parking lot covered with several inches of freshly packed snow. The exit from the parking lot up to the street level involved climbing a grade of probably not more than two feet. I'd give it gas, and the genny would move a little bit, and then the engine would cut back to idle, a definite no-go. I tried it a couple of times, with no better results. Then I hit the ESC button to turn the nanny off, hit the gas, and climbed right up onto the street, rear tires spinning away! In that particular situation, I couldn't get any momentum until I could spin my tires![/QUOTE

Thanks, that's exactly what I was getting at. At first attempt I didn't sit there and just spin tires and create ice.... Once I realized there was no traction and the engine would cut out I switched to snow mode and when that didn't work I went to what I know. My first 15 or so years driving I never had trac-control and always got out of stuck situations.
 
Just to be clear in my opening post I made a statement comparing my 15 AWD Genesis to my prior Mercedes 4matics. So there is no reason to blame driver error.... Also I said I didn't know if it was the system or tires that made the difference. Either way I feel my Benz was better in the snow.

So,when all four tires spin PCM backs off the trottle.. I did not know that ,

I'm pretty sure Hyundai, not Hyuandai knows.... Thats why shutting off the Trac-control is recommended in the manual.

My 2011 owners manual, if stuck ESC off

So does my 2015 manual....turning off ESC is a standard thing to do when needing to get unstuck (snow, mud, whatever...). Otherwise, the ESC will prevent the wheels from spinning adequately enough to get the vehicle out.

Well it takes you awhile to figure anyhting out.

Like attaking people for spelling errors - kind of not cool.
BTW, you may want to analize your style as a whole, maybe with help from a shrink.
Tell him that Forum's management removed your comment.
See if you still convinced that you are not doing anything wrong,
then you know something is wrong. And visa versa.

While it is one thing to be educated, it is entirely different to be humble and dispense your perspective without coming across as a jerk.

As far as spelling goes, it really doesn't help your position when you have multiple misspelled words in your post.

Close. not everyone is attaking, there are some people who support our work and those who don't like it but express their thoughts in recpectful manner.

Now your advice is great, why don't you follow it?
Call me a jerk and ride the spelling argument.
You may be coming accross as a jerk.
