  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70
I heard from my dealer the KIA Stinger and their K5 line is being phased out. I'm sure to make room for plug-ins.

How about Genesis, do they have any plans to discontinue any models?

Thanks, I almost bout a Stinger GT2 because I LOVE the hatchback. The dealer did tell me they are being discontinued. I'll be back a Genesis dealer next week and I'll ask the GM there.

I really don't care I love this little car. I just wish I was more "techy" than "old farty"

I see you are down Hwy 35 from me. Who did your Expel there?

Well, strange story, that. I had to go to Oklahoma to pick up my G70 because I couldn't find any AWD G70s in Texas. So I actually had the Xpel done at a shop in Oklahoma City. I wanted to make sure on my drive home that the nose of my car was protected. I don't remember the name of the shop, but it was near Genesis of Edmond in Edmond (though I wouldn't necessarily recommend either the dealer or the shop where I got the Xpel done).

Not necessarily discontinue any models, but all models will be all electric in the near future.

I could almost bet my house the G70 won't be redesigned, at least in ICE form. That's why it was 'refreshed' when it should have been retired. Hyundai wants to get a bit more mileage of this aging platform while they can. The Stinger is the same platform, but I'm surprised at the K5 getting discontinued, when I don't think its twin Sonata will anytime soon. Or is it? Ha ha. I'm more surprised Genesis not discontinuing the larger cars, like the G80 and 90. Who buys those anymore?

Not only that, but they're a royal PITA to travel on, even if there are superchargers where you're traveling, which is not always the case. That's in part why we decided to sell our 2021 Tesla, and wait for not only more reliable EVs, but for infrastructure to catch on. It took us over an hour more to travel on the Tesla, which got us right into rush out traffic. We'll probably be forced to eventually buy EVs, but I won't buy a Tesla again. Would buy something more main-stream, and with better service support. Fortunately, we made $3,500 overall (after taxes and all) to use it for 1.5 years, so not a bad deal :).

I am so happy to see another former Tesla owner who moved to genesis lol! I just traded my 2021 Model 3 in for a 2022 G70 3.3T... I don't care how bad the gas prices are.... that car was so damn impractical.. especially up in Canada with our harsh winters. Owning that Tesla was the worst experience I've ever had with a car. That being said... I have absolutely no complaints... made well over 20k to use it for a year.

The G70 has been a disappointment for Genesis when it has come to sales largely having been outsold by the Stinger here due to its cramped 2nd row.

Just as important, the G70 is not a big seller in Korea, unlike the G80 (or even the G90).

Based on that, would think that the chances of seeing a 2G ICE G70 are very slim.

My 2019 G70 Dynamic doesn’t seem to have side bolster adjustments. Unless I can’t find it. I’ve only had it a week.
Only the top 3.3T trim has them, so if 'Dynamic' is not the top trim in your market, it probably does not have them. You'd know by a 'ring' around the lumbar support button.

So you made $20K? It should be like $16K in US dlls, but it's a crap load of money. I only made $3.5K. How did that happen? But glad you did :). And yes, a lot of new EV owners don't realize how inefficient they are in the cold. I was getting almost half the advertised mileage, and it's not even close to Canada cold. I also don't miss it at all either, although its instant acceleration was nice.

I agree with that. It's platform is already long in the tooth, and Hyundai didn't even bother to put a fully digital dash, something they did on the also aging Kona platform, so that doesn't bode well. My guess is the G70 is either going to disappear, or become an EV. We'll find out soon enough, but the good news is it's a beautiful car, and a rare sight for the most part. Looking forward to my 2023 in late July.

Love mine. I do wish it had the Stinger hatch
