Dissapointed?

so I test drove the 2015 V6 version yesterday while bringing my 09 in for service, gotta say I felt a little disappointed.

First the acceleration of the V6 was slow compare to my V8 (before you blast me, I know this is the case with V6, I just wasnt realized it was that bad, almost got in an accident trying to merge). I realized this is an easy fix by just buying the V8.

The inside felt smaller, I am not sure why but the inside seem more claustrophobic.

Last but not least is the refinement, dont get me wrong its luxurious for what it is, but compare to the last gen, it seems hyundai try to make things cheaper, the back holder (sorry not sure the official name) is made out of plastic vs leather, the steering wheels is made out of hard plastic/leather material vs wood, the leather seems a little harder than my V8's. I'm wondering if all these things are because I choose to test drove the V6 version instead of V8.

FYI I test drove the package with 14 lexicon speaker, cant remember the option name but it also come with Panoramic sunroof.

Oh, please!!! That's a silly statement or you must drive like a real jerk and try to merge when it's not appropriate/cut people off! While the V8 will obviously be quicker off the line, the V6 has more than enough power for merging. So if you had issues, you'll find the problem in the mirror- not the car!

The v6 has enough power for all merging situations? Why would you make a statement like that when obviously you haven't tried it in all situations.

I don't see how that make me a jerk? When you merge u must accellerate fast enough to get in front of the car, you obviously can't stop in the highway or slow down or the car will hit you from behind....pretty sure that's common sense

Agreed that there is more than enough power on the highway or typical merging situations with the 6. I don't think there is really any conventional V6 that could be compared to a V8 and the OP kind of admitted to that. I could see if it was a 4 cyl we were comparing an 8 to, then I could see there being a problem in a merge situation but with this V6...... no way. But everyone has an opinion and should be respected. As for me I am more than happy with my 15' V6 AWD!!!!

Why not test out a comparable V8 model? Comparing what sounds like a base V6 will not give you a fair assessment. From numerous car reviews and test completed over the last several months, the comparisons of the interior from Gen1 to Gen2 show a significant jump in design and quality.

What I've seen from a handful of Gen1 owners is a disdain for the new models who try to put it down whenever the opportunity arises.

The Gen1 was a good start and Hyundai improved on the next generation. All those reviews praising the improved ride, handling, technology, safety, interior quality, etc. can't be wrong.

I have a 2015 v6 and I noticed a huge difference in power once I had 1000kms on it. You should not attempt to race into position with someone else's new car. Have some respect and common sense.

Sorry, I was unecessarily harsh and aplogize for the name calling. My point is that portraying the V6 as underpowered to the point it's dangerous in merging versus the V8 is silly - and I maintain that. I've had the car for almost 7 months and have never, ever had a problem merging. If you're leaving appropriate spacing and not trying to sqeeze in, then merging with the V6 is not a problem. However, if you like V8's, then go that route or you won't be happy.

Since your post didnt mention it, you likely had the vehicle in eco mode. The small button south of the shifter. Throttle response is very different depending on the setting you choose.

I agreed, but after reading reviews and everyone giving there .02cent i opt to test drove the V6 this time. I literally was pedal to the metal and there is a slight hesitation to give some power (assuming the computer thinking to drop to lower gear), and when it comes on it screams but doesn't go.

as far as quality goes, I'm not sure if I agreed with that statement, everything in the new Hyundai seem to tell me its a step below the previous gen, but the design is very good looking, matter of fact I love it a lot more than my gen.

Did the one you test drove have the upgraded leather? I haven't been in a 2014 so I have nothing to compare to. Did they offer the same tech, like adaptive cruise or lane assist? Until I drove mine a couple rimes on the highway I didn't realize how advanced this car is. Mine is an ultimate so I have all the bells and whistles and the interior is like butter

When you start the car it is in normal mode. You would have to select eco or sport manually by pressing the driving mode button. Hold that button down in any mode and it puts you in snow mode.

Well sir Idk what kind of driver are you. But if thats the case they shouldn't allow any cars like camry, civic, accord , crv and hybrid not at all on highways right? I have driven so many cars in the past and this car has enough power to merge . if you really want to do 0-60 under 3 sec on every exit or entering freeways keep your car in sports mode. Or get a bugatti

14 speaker model is probably sig pack or sig pack + tech pack. I believe those models have different leather material than ultimate packed ones and have different wood trims, much simpler center armrest console 3 buttons vs much elaborate setup in ultimate pack. So you are into finer things in detail, you want to get ultimate pack.

On power front, I do think it could use about 50 or so more hp to move this much weight around better but as it stands, it is quite capable. You just need to know that even V6 Accord will probably outrun you from a stop light, acknowedge it, and drive the car as it is intended, like a large luxury car.

I’ve owned one of the first Gen cars and I considered it a very nice car so I can say this with full knowledge of both to address the “question directly” for so many reasons I hardly know where to start ….no.
