  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you also have issues with fusebox ruining battery?

I have Genesis 2015 and I went through 3 batteries in last 4 month. I brought it to dealership and they checked alternator and give me "bill of health" stating that there are no electrical issues with a car. Had to bring to third party autoshop and pay $400 to diagnose bad fuse box. Below is what they found.
I'm still under extended warranty so will go back to dealership but wondering if I'm the only one.

Don't replace box, just positive battery terminal.

How do you know that what the issue is?
Because nothing else in that $600 box they want to sell you actually fails. There's literally nothing special about it besides the cheap ring terminal Hyundai uses that wears out.

And a $20 terminal is a lot better than a $600 box... and this is probably a case of the mechanic taking advantage of you as a failure in the box that would stop you from charging, would also stop you from starting. The battery being able to go dead typically means an auxiliary power system fault or an aftermarket accessory pulling the battery down.

The other possibility is your batteries have all been fine, but you got ripped off by whoever was selling them because they couldn't diagnose a loose battery terminal.

Thanks,

I still have extended warranty so price for replacement is not major factor in my decision what needs to be replaced, what I'm concerned about whether current draw issue can reliably attributed to something being wrong with terminal/fuse box and would be considered manufacturers responsibility to replace

If your extended warranty company wants to replace it for free, go for it. It's hard to deem it manufacturer's responsibility 9 years later though, they'll probably say it's a wear item.

Without a proper diagnostic there's no telling if the recommendation will fix anything- that quote you have there literally says nothing about how they came to the conclusion it needs replacing.

I would ask them to check the positive battery terminal. Seems to be the weak link.
