  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you think there will be a high performance version of the G70?

Like the poll says, do you guys think there will be a high performance version of the G70, something that competes with the M3, RS4, C63, IS-F, Infiniti Red Sport, A-Spec, etc?

Also, this is my first post and am really excited about the G70... After seeing the new M340i's MSRP, I about choked that they are asking $56k without options. The G70 fully loaded being about $52k and seems to be a tremendous value without all the German quirks and issues.

I want there to be, but I vaguely recall some interview with a Hyundai exec talking about no N performance versions of the G70. To me, that means there will be no other significant performance version of the G70.

I hope I'm wrong though.

My guess that if there is going to be a Genesis N line it will start with the new Genesis Coupe (2022?).

Who cares if the G70 comes out with a 600 HP engine that goes 0-60 in 2-3 seconds? IF you live in a state that actually sells them, that might be different. I'm in the NW and the closest dealers who actually have them are 1000 miles away. I just don't get why Hyundai comes out with this new model, but doesn't produce enough of them to sell in the broad market.

There's enough of them. The issues was the franchise license.

Just watched a video about how Genesis is redoing its dealer network and how 2019 should be a lot better... IDK if this guy really knows what he is talking about, but it might be a reason to be hopeful.

I don't understand why a company that could bring vehicles like the Genesis to market, could screw the pooch so badly with their dealer setup? G70, Motor Trends "Car of the Year" that is invisible on dealer lots in most of the US.

Why do you troll around here if you’re so upset? You’re off topic...and post bitching post (2 within just over an hour in the same thread).

Is what it is...deal with it...or go buy something else.

Uhhhhhh

Lol just messing. Anyway, I doubt high performance engines are planned. The market for them is pretty small, and crossovers and electric vehicles are much higher priorities, especially since EVs could double as performance vehicles. Hyundai has already begun their electric investment with the Kona, so I'll bet the R&D will carry over to Genesis. Plus, the only other engine Genesis has is the V8, which isn't a huge upgrade from the TTV6. They'd have to invest in upgrading their V8 with a turbo at least.

Hyundai yes, the Veloster and Kona N so far. Veloster N is supposed to be out before the first of the year. I'm thinking right after the first of the year. Genesis no, sorry.

I think there might be something further down the road as an option, but I also think the coupe will be a high performance car which may eliminate that. Wait and see I guess. I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Not anytime soon (certainly not within the current gen of Genesis models) and if Genesis were to do a performance line, it would have its own moniker (would not use N).

Biermann, himself, has stated as such and he's right, it's too early for Genesis (they need to first establish themselves w/ their core lineup) and w/ increasing electrification, may make the point of a having a performance line redundant.

That's. however, not to say that Genesis is totally foregoing increasing performance (along w/ efficiency).

The 3.3T is rumored to be getting replaced by a 3.5T that puts out 400+ HP which should be plenty for most enthusiasts.

Just as important is the 10 spd AT replacing the 8 spd - hopefully it'll be a transmission that is more suited for performance.

And y'know, actually sell the cars they currently make...

Love the comment about extra cooling being on the g70. Very friendly to small modding without needing to replace expensive cooling parts hopefully. My last Hyundai heat soaked stock haha
The Dynamic has upgraded cooling currently I believe!

That may be good in a year or two when (if) they do come out with a limited edition high performance model. Eight now they are just getting nationwide distribution, but when sales level off in a couple of years, a special edition with a good tune will generate some publicity again.
