  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone regret buying the Sport Prestige?

Well, I just wanted to update the thread. When I test-drove the G, I didn't have high expectations, since I knew it was an old platform, and not up to par with the Germans... but I wasn't looking for that anyway. What was really disappointing to me was the exhaust noise, since all V6s sound like crap with a loud exhaust, and I didn't want that. But the most disappointing aspect was not being able to turn it off, since Hyundai didn't bother to even include exhaust settings in the custom mode. Car drives like crap in normal mode (like most others), so both my wife and myself always drive in sport mode, where the exhaust sounds like a goat in distress. Heck, it even droned some in normal mode. I don't mind loud exhausts, as long as I can turn the valves off, since that gets old quick on a trip.
Another let down was the car wallowed on a couple of curves, while the shocks were excessively stiff, even in normal mode, so not 'balanced'. Shock valving should have been milder for that kind of car IMO. I also expected more grunt from the 6 at moderate throttle, actually feeling more anemic than the 4 to both my wife and myself. So when I heard an awful engine noise when pulling into the garage from the dealer, that was the 'gift' I needed to be able to get rid of it. And having bought 8 new cars from them, they accepted it back without a fight, so that was greatly appreciated. And that's why I'm doing my best to try to buy the replacement car from them too.

At any rate, to finish in a better note, we're going to go with a G70 2.0T SP. The 2 deal-breaker conditions from my wife are ventilated seats, and not longer than her ex-Tesla M3 LR, which measured 185". Not many alternatives, especially with BMW and MB out of consideration (never again). The Lexus IS300 is just awful now, dating back to 2014. Geez. Fortunately, the G70 2.0T RWD Prestige, which was voted the best value of the G70 line, and with the best suspension tuning (reviewers also said the 3.3 was excessively stiff), added ventilated seats for 2023, so I put a deposit on a white/gray one coming in late July. And it does NOT have a noisy exhaust, fortunately (I-4s don't sound nice either). I hated giving up HUD, Napa leather, suede-like headliner, and 360 view, but my wife can live without those, so hope she likes it when it finally gets here, because that's the end of the line. Ha ha. Otherwise, she'd have to give up ventilated seats, or shorter than 185". But I'm almost sure both of us will like how it drives, since it's lighter, softer (but still firm), and less nose heavy, but we'll see.

Sounds like you don't even like the car... lol.. and maybe I misinterpreting but it's absolutely up to par with the German's overall. The vast majority of reviewers love the car in almost every trim. I have the 3.3T with base suspension and ARK GT-F springs. The balance is spot on. I do agree the V6 TT sound is lacking... but I can't see why someone would want the 2.0T over the 3.3T unless fuel mileage is an issue. Hopefully you like it!

In handling, I'm sad to say, but it's not up to par of the Germans, and that's without even pushing it hard. But to be fair, I'm used to more expensive cars, so I'm being a bit more critical than most here (downsized the house, and now the vehicles. Seven years of expensive cancer therapies make you do that. Ha ha). And you already had suspension changes to yours, so you might have forgotten what it was like before. Ha ha. But it's not a big deal to me, as the stock car is perfectly acceptable, so no biggie. I don't drive that fast anymore. To me the noisy exhaust of the 3.3T is a deal-breaker, and unfortunately, it's still there with the Advanced package, and don't want a stripper, so rather have the 2.0T in Sport Prestige trim, which will have ventilated seats (a must have). If the Advanced 3.3T didn't have the noisy exhaust, would have gotten that instead, since it basically has the same equipment as the 2.0 SP. But with gas prices the way they are, the better fuel mileage will be nice. Plus it actually feels torquier than the 6 at a sedate pace, so not going to really miss the extra power.

It's interesting you say the exhaust is noisy lol Im the opposite, I feel like it isn't noisy enough.

You did turn active sound design off right? The setting that plays extra exhaust noise through the speakers? With that off and not in sport, it's practically silent. Much quieter than any German cars I test drove before buying...

And to answer the original question of the thread, sport prestige is the only trim I considered. Had a 2019 sport before and was definitely not willing to give up any of those features, and never will be again lol.

Yep, first thing I did. It wasn't that intrusive, actually, although the tone was not complimentary at all. And mine droned a little even in normal mode, and I'm a car guy. First time I agreed with my wife on that. Ha ha. Oh well. Hope the 2.0T SP works for us; it arrives mid July. I much prefer I-4 and V-6 engines quiet, since they just don't sound nice IMO.
