  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I used the advanced search function and read several threads, but I found some that said it was straight bolt on and others that said it did not work.

Is there a definitive answer?

Thank you in advance
Charles

Nope, different size.

I know for a fact they are different sizes, but are they close enough in dimension to be interchangeable? It looks like maybe, but I wasn't willing to try out an 09-11 grill on my 2012. Maybe you can be the test subject.

I am already the Test Monkey for new wheels, can't afford to be on the grille too.

I decided to go in another direction last night.

What are you testing with the wheels? A fairly broad range of sizes and offsets has been tried on this car already unless you're going for something crazy wide.

They are indeed the same shape, but they are not a direct replacement, it took some adjustments with a grinding wheel and the fabrication of a bracket to bring in the top center, but I did get the custom grill I was looking for.

I painted it black and added the upper chrome piece (86355 3M400) from Mobis.

Looks really good. I might have to look at the aftermarket pre-12 grilles again.

I'm glad I have a 2012. The 09-11 has ugly headlights with no LED's, not to mention the ugly grill.

I wouldn't say ugly, just not as nice. That would be like me pointing out you only have a V-6.

I don't know, I guess it's who you ask. I like the led accent at night, but hate that white strip during the day. The grill I agree, but I've definitely met people who prefer the 09-11.

Pretty much nice.

I don't have a V8 because I'm not dumb enough to waste the money on the extra gas. Not to mention, are you going to go 160mph anytime soon or need to accelerate outrageously? That's what I thought.

I am not sure how this thread devolved into this.

I just wanted to share that you put a 2012-2014 Grille on a 2009-2011 with a little effort, then someone calls the car I think is beautiful ugly, and then you call my choice of car dumb.

Notice I didn't say you called me dumb, for that would be improper and untrue.

I respect your thoughts and your right to be able to make the choice that meets your economic situation, while also addressing your ecological concerns.

At this point in my life I can make the choices that I want, and I chose a car that did both for me.

I might not need to accelerate outrageously, but it is better to have an ability and not need it, than to need an ability and not have it.
