  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK, I know very little about the 2nd Generation Genesis, as I have a 2011 and a 2014 .....

So, today I go to the Hyundai Main Site and try to Build and Price a 2016 Genesis. They don't appear to give me the option of a V8.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but will someone enlighten me?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You will be able to build one with the G80.

No V8 in 2016. They pulled it off from their website (most possibly the reason being they want to separate G90 from G80 next year).

They definitely want people to have a little something in the 2017 Genesis G80 that the 2016 Hyundai Genesis doesn't have...

Yet another reason to find a left over 2015 and save $20k

After researching this, this morning, it looks to me like you'll only be able to get the G80 in a V6. Maybe a 3.6 and a 3.8

I thought the G80 was strictly turbo V6

Interested to see how they do this...turbo type (single, twin scroll) and size, intercooler(s) (front mount, side mounts), how it's plumbed in general, etc. This is undoubtedly a huge perk but as many headaches as forced induction brings, not sure I would want to be at the front of the line for one in 2017.

The V8 was listed as an option for the 2016 Genesis for a while, so I wouldn't take that as a guarantee that the G80 will have one. We won't know for certain until they hit the showroom floor, but I'm leaning towards NA V6 and TT V6 being the two engine choices for the G80.

I'm okay if it isn't. It basically means I've got a fairly uncommon car :-). Not as rare as my 2012 Non RSpec V8, but still uncommon.

I still love my white 2012 5.0 non rspec. I was once told by a dealer that there were 600 of these made.

I think I have you all beat for exclusivity. Since Canada was the only place in the world to have a V8 AWD and there are so few sold here in or vast desolate country, I wonder if there were more than 100 ever made.

There's a lot of conflicting information regarding the engine options for the Genesis G80. I'd like to see the twin turbo V6 and V8 as options but I think it's more likely we'll see a naturally aspirated V6 and twin turbo V6 - or possibly just what we've had all along (except for right now) the V6 and V8...

Well, that's true.

I would not go by what they advertise as they are really off base on most of what they write. Been like this from long ago with no improvements in sight. :( Unfortunately their communication skills are severely lacking.

I don't want to muddy the waters even worse, but what about the G80 Sport? It makes sense that they would offer something with a bit more oooomph than the standard 3.8 or 5.0 for this "special" model. Maybe a V6TT with HP that matches the 5.0 or more.

I agree entirely...

Personally, I believe the twin turbo V6 will be available and I'm confident the car will be faster that way...
