  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does the speed sensitive volume actually do anything?

One of the audio options is a check box to adjust the volume based on the speed of the vehicle. I've driven many cars with this feature. But the one on my 2015 Genesis Ultimate doesn't seem to actually do anything.

Regardless of whether the setting is enabled or disabled, I've yet to detect any sort of volume change as I speed up or slow down. Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, you need to turn the radio on. :D

All kidding aside, I can tell a difference.

You're probably not doing anything wrong.

Mine doesn't seem to make any difference either.

Car is so dang quiet, I imagine it really doesn't need to do anything. In my Armada, you can definitely tell with the road noise and V8 snarling non-stop.

I'll try to pay closer attention. I've only had this car a couple of weeks. From other cars I've driven, I'm used to hearing noticeable changes in volume as speed goes up/down.

In the Genesis, does it change the actual volume setting (i.e. volume set to 13 might become volume at 17 on the highway) or does it just stay at volume level 13 but 13 becomes louder at highway speeds?

I've never seen the volume numbers increase or decrease on mine as I speed up or slow down.

If your car(s) are as quiet as mine, you wouldn't want the volume to go up with speed anyway. Except maybe for those rare occasions when you are checking it out at 150 or 160 - and then, you really should have the radio off.

That said, I also have mine turned on and have noticed no difference whatsoever.

Mine must not be as quiet as yours. When I get to around 45 MPH the road noise covers up the sounds from the radio/audio system. At slower speeds I usually have the volume set at 4. When I hit the highway I have to turn it up to 6 or 7 to understand it over the road noise.

I have never noticed this work in any car...

It does not change the volume setting itself. If you have it on, say 14, it does not increase to 17. I can tell a difference if I am paying close attention to the music. I think I hear a volume increase at around 45 then another at around 70.

There was a noticeable difference when using the setting in my 2011 MKZ Hybrid and an even more noticeable difference in the 2007 Infiniti M35X I had before the Lincoln.

Same thing in my 2013 Honda Accord that had the road noise of a soft-top Jeep Wrangler. Hated that car...

I noticed the difference. When coming to a stop at a red light... I can hear a very subtle decrease in sound volume. I notice it lot less than all my previous cars and thats a good thing. I believe this feature is supposed to be subtle and I dont have to adjust my volume myself at stop or highspeed.

I wish I could tell. Maybe my hearing just isn't that great anymore. In theory, I love the idea...

It works on my car. Subtle as noted above when changing speeds. When using NAV it is then really noticeable when your approaching a turn, it turns way down then. Not so subtle then but works as expected.

Maybe I'm just used to it being ham-fisted in other cars. My previous car had an aftermarket JVC Navi in it and you could noticeably tell when it increased/decreased the volume due to speed. Seems like around 25 / 45 / 65 there was a noticeable bump. Perhaps the Genesis uses a much more subtle gradient.

I like the fact that you barely notice it. Means it is well engineered. They don't want you to notice it. It should seamlessly maintain the same volume to your ears. Great Job Hyundai Engineers!

It was noticeable in my previous car 2013 Santa Fe, but it isn't in an Rspec. Honestly, I don't hear any difference at all.
