  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does your AV always auto-on when USB stick is plugged in?

This thread is a follow-on to lengthy discussions/experiments posted under the thread "How turn off engine and leave A/V on?" (btw, that issue was solved by stopping engine in Neutral and keeping your foot off the brake pedal).

Once that was posted, the thread turned to the abnormality (?) of the AV system always turning itself on when the car was started - whenever a USB stick was present.

Anyone else experience this? Anyone figure out how to change it? Sure seems cumbersome to unplug/plug that thing in everytime. (Yes - the easy thing is just turn it off every time I start the car, but don't we all want our Genesis to do what we want?)

I have a 2011 3.8 with Tech and Nav.

When replying to this topic, please include a few details about your car: model year, V6 or V8, and stereo/AV system level (Tech/17-speaker, 14-speaker, etc), do you use a USB memory stick and if so, do you leave it installed all the time? And if you turn the AV system OFF before shutting off the engine. We're trying to figure out the pattern/logic... if you read the thread CenTexan referenced you'll understand what I mean.

I'll start:
2009 V8/Tech (17-speaker)
USB memory stick, left plugged in all the time
I turn the AV system OFF before shutting off the engine

Result: AV system stays OFF when I restart the car. I even see "AV OFF" for a moment at the top of the navigation screen after I push the DIS knob to kill the nag screen.

I have a Western Digital usb HD
I never shut off the system before turning off the car.
If usb drive is plugged in it will always take priority, even if I was listening to a dvd prior to shutting the car off.
