I am seriously in the market for a new car and the Genesis shares top billing along with Toyota Avalon Limited. I have shopped both Genesis dealers in the Tulsa area and definitely know which will get my business if I decide on Genesis ownership.
After two visits to Don Carlton Hyundai, I am very impressed with the salesman I have been working with, Mark Dunham. He is very low keyed in his sales approach, very well informed about the Genesis and could answer all my questions about the Genesis. I expect service at Don Carlton Hyundai to be top notch based on my three year experience having my Honda Accord serviced at Don Carlton Honda.
I wish I could give a similar positive report on my experience with AutoMax Hyundai in Broken Arrow Ok, just a few miles East of Tulsa. The salesman, Roger, didn't know much at all about the Genesis, admited he didn't know much and stated he wasn't interested in learning about the car since he couldn't sell many of them (I wonder why?). He couldn't answer many questions at all about the car, not even where the battery was located!!! The test drive was very abbreviated since he said he wanted to get back to the dealership so he could sell cars. He constantly chattered all through the test drive, so I was thankful it was a short experience. Even though I had turned the stereo off, he turned it on and cranked up the volume. To his credit, he did tune to the station of my choice. Even though I set the AC to 70 to test the system under conditions similar to how I set the AC in my car, he cranked the temp down to max cool because he said he was hot. At the end of the test drive, there was no offer of business card or brochure, which I would have turned down since I already had a brochure. Bottom line here is I will not further shop AutoMax Hyundai even in light of the fact that the exact car I want is sitting in their showroom - 3.8 with Performance Plus, Saddle interior, Cabernet Red paint. Unfortunately, the paint on this car has several minor scratches and scuffs. They can be polished out, but in my opinion, a showroom car should be darn near pristine!
