  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Don't buy this car! Or get a really good extended warranty.

I'll never buy another Genesis. I had an Azera for a few years and had ZERO issues, but, this Genesis is a royal pain in the royal butt. More problems than I can count. Thank goodness most were under warranty when I had the problems. But, I've learned my lesson and would take an Avalon any day over any Genesis. Would rather go Lexus but will have to make that determination when the time comes in another 2 years!!
Best of luck, but, I'm turned off by the Genesis models.

This isn't sounding good for my consideration of a G80! I agree regarding the Avalon, but it is due for a remake soon. It needs their new 2GR-FKS V-6 engine (port & direct injection to eliminate intake valve deposits) with their new 8-speed. Would appreciate it if you would share some of the problems. The great Genesis warranty is a good thing, IF one is near a dealer, but with Genesis pulling away from Hyundai, it's anybody's guess where the dealerships will end up. One thing for sure, not as many Genesis dealerships as Hyundai.

If you do some checking, you'll find that the Genesis is "almost" as reliable as a Lexus, and more reliable than a 5 Series, and E-Class.
You'll even find people who hate their Avalon's and Azera's.

You can bet Genesis will set up shop in affluent areas of most major urban areas - just like other luxo makes.

I bought a 2000 Avalon for my wife and had occasion to drive it every now and then. Major complaints were lack of power, too soft suspension, uncomfortable front seats and blocked visibility to the dash instruments when adjusted for my body measurements (which is as generic for a male as you can get). I didn't hate that car because it was reliable as dirt, got great mileage and the cabin was as quiet as a coffin so it did have some very good points but I love my Genny's power much better than I miss the Avalon's mileage. It is still in the family though and still chugging along just as reliably as before.

Do keep in mind that most people don't sign up at forums to voice their opinion about how their vehicle is performing as it should. So it's only natural to hear more about how a car is failing than how it's riding along trouble-free...

Entered the thread to say exactly this. My 60k R-Spec is performing as intended, with all the intended acceleration due a motor of that size.

I certainly agree, and a G80 would probably be my choice to replace a VW Passat diesel. Genesis also has one of the best warranties. However, as I mentioned, where the dealerships will end up worries me. For example, both Audi and MB are three hours driving distance. So if the Genesis dealership did the same when it splits from the nearby Hyundai, so much for the concierge/loaner advantage, not to mention any lengthy repair or warranty action would be a pain.

I bought my 2015 three months ago for $32K. Had 18K miles. Ulitimate package with HTRAC. Every feature offered. I test drove other cars for weeks before buying -- include Merc. e350s audi A6s and BMW. Hands down this is the finest car I drove and have owned. I have owned Q45, BMW 525,528 and 325. Also a Lexus GS300. German Cars handle better, but are not as quiet or smooth. They don't offer thew bang for the buck that I get with the Genesis. My lexus GS300 was bought new, and I kept getting strange noises from the sun roof. The problem was never resolved despite numous trips to the dealer. My wife's BMW 325 convertible failed at 1500 mile mark when 4 of 6 condensers gave out. Of course, she didn't notice it until number four went. I probably would have noticed it with the first one.

I almost bought an Avalon and also liked Kia Credenza. In the end, I don't, dollar for dollar, any of the other cars comes close.

My Glove box Damper splitted in half. I know about the knotches and lip on the PAPA cover and how to pop it back in place. My question is, How to remove the MAMA part from the glove box, how is it fastened to the glove box frame. Held by a screw of I just pop it out following the grooves to put it back in ???
