  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I love bob the oil guy's site as well in regards to oil.

I use Blackstone Labs and the amount of detail they send you back is quite nice. All you do is send in your sample and within a weeks time you get an email from them with the breakdown of everything in the oil. It compares your car to other Genesis owners with the same engine and gives you an idea of how your engine is wearing vs. the average, it's also a good way to potentially catch a problem before it becomes a major one. I do it every 3rd oil change, they provide you the kit for free and the cost of analysis is $25.

What it provides:

Blackstone's standard analysis will tell you what you need to know about the condition of your engine and how it's wearing. The standard analysis costs $25.00 and includes the following:

Spectral Exam: Establishes the levels of wear metals, silicon, and additives present in the oil. Also checks for coolant.

Viscosity: Determines the grade of oil.

Insolubles: Quantifies the percentage of solids present in the oil.

Flashpoint: The flashpoint is the temperature at which the vapors from the oil ignite. When the flash is lower than it should be, it shows
a contaminant (usually fuel) is present.

words to live by....

dino oil every 5K or less w/filter

synthetic every 10k or less , every 5k for filter

low mileage oil changes once a year.

I've seen worse pictures of bmw's lifters following factory maint. bottom line never trust the manufacturer if your going to keep your car outside of warranty coverage. lifetime fluids.... Yeah right!

ppp

Why do you think you are going to save money? With the oil Chang specials I get by email, I'd be hard pressed to be able to change the oil for less money. Also, my time is worth money.
