  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Being able to unlock the doors when touching any handle (Drives me nuts as my other car had it and I keep grabbing the back door to unlock it)
That should be selectable though. For security you may want the driver door only in some circumstances. Carjacking has become very popular. Not everyone wants all doors easily opened.

You misunderstood me. That's something different.
I want sensors on the rear doors.
So when I want to unlock and open the rear door, I don't have to touch the front door first.

So you want the car jacker to be able to get in the rear door?. No, I did not misunderstand you, I still want it to be selectable to have the driver door only for security in some cases.

If I want to put a bag of groceries in the back seat, like you, I unlock by sliding my hand in the front handle first and at times it would be easier to use the rear door. Sometimes though, we go out late, alone, and you never know who is lurking in the parking lot.

You know Ed, they can also be hiding on the passenger side and open the passenger door, so as long as you know what is around you, being able to unlock your vehicle from the rear door handle posses no additional threat. Sam with opening the vehicle rear hatch. If someone is going to jump you, they probably will no matter what.

Yes, that is why the option to only open the DRIVER door. You don't always know what is around you. Read some of the police reports.
Cars used to be like that. Put in the key, turn to open, one door unlocked and you reached over to pull up the knob for the others.

Ed, the GV80does not have a key to open the door. It does have an emergency key, but it takes way too much to use it to open the door on daily use. All we have is the digital unlock and it unlocks all the doors or just the front 2 (I think). I understand what you are saying, but you must know the vehicle before making a comment that does not apply.

I'm referring to car some years old when electronic locks did not exist. You unlocked the driver door, nothing else.
You can have all the doors open on approach if you want, but for safety, give others the option to have only driver door open. What is so difficult to understand about that?

There are 35,000 carjackings every year in the US.

It would be nice for it to be selectable. But was not talking about approaching the vehicle and have it unlock all the doors. Would like to be able to unlock the doors by grabbing the rear door handles as we do on the front door handles.

That was my point. SELECTABLE

Selectable if fine as long as I can select what I want and that is what this thread is about. And like DaneNet said, they can still open the front passenger door with the setup the way it is, so this is a moot point.

Reread my first comment. I just said it should be selectable. Seems that stirred up a few people.

Ed, you never stir me up. Like my last comment said, "Selectable is fine".... But I thought your were talking about something different when you responded to my first post. No biggie.
