  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys thought I’d share some drag times from my g80 sport. First time ever drag racing and it was sick. The 13.5 average times that’s my G80 Sport and the other times that’s my buddy in his Infiniti Q60 Red Sport.

Nice times!! Did you torque brake the engine or just stomped the gas pedal on your runs?

I tried different launches. The best time of 13.49 was torque braking at 2000rpm with stability and traction disabled. I tried just hitting the gas pedal and I was getting 13.7 times.

That what I guessed. Car and driver claimed to have gotten a 1/4 mile time of 13.6 seconds with the 2018 G80 when they tested it, but they claim not to torque brake the engines during tests I believe I read somewhere. 13.49 is much quicker than they claim the car can do.

It is funny because they claim the 2015 Genesis 5.0 does the same exact times. C&D stated that they did not torque brake the 5.0 during the test on the PDF test sheet.

Nice runs!

Fun stuff for sure!!!

Just a word of friendly advice;

I'd make sure your dealer doesn't figure or find out it's you. You can void your warranty pretty quick by tracking the vehicle if they find out. Since you've posted your license plate and the dealer you purchased it from, it would be rather easy to find out who you are. Just saying, you also need to read your warranty regarding such use.

If I were you, I'd remove the photos of your license plate and all evidence of the dealer where you purchased it.

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up. You can tell I never posted pictures of cars before lol. Can I edit the post and re-upload edited pictures?

2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 Test | Review | Car and Driver
I had the 2016 Hyundai Genesis 4dr 3.8 before My G80 Sport. The transmission on the G80 Sport is tuned differently and I can feel the difference. Its quicker shifts then the regular G80.
Also the engines 3.8 and the 5.0 are tuned the same way that they both get full power over 5000rpm
Horsepower (Net @ RPM): 311 @ 6000Torque (Net @ RPM): 293 @ 5000
Horsepower (Net @ RPM): 420 @ 6000Torque (Net @ RPM): 383 @ 5000
This makes a huge difference when you launch. My 3.8 took forever to finally start hauling its weight but when I went over 5000rpm it finally took off.

Get the JB4 tune!....race your friend again, just don't tell him you're tuned. :grinlaugh:

any issues or concerns with the tune? Any parts needing replacement?

So far, no issues here, car runs smooth like butter. All you have to do is, replace the spark plugs ~$60, you can DiY'elf or find a shop and pay them to do it - ~2 hours job, tops, that including regapping plugs to .022 as recommended by a tuner and replacing them.
91-93 octane, map 2 and you'll be at ~425hp/515tq - totally worth it!

Do You feel the difference between 91 and 93 ? Both gives ~425 hp/515tq ? Or it correct for 93 and 91 gives less?
