  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I put gas in my car and got back in to start it and got nothing. It didn't even seem like there was a battery in the car.

I was able to twist the cable left and right to get it to connect and start the car.

The cable that attaches to the fusible link box, which is attached to the battery positive cable, had arched enough it wouldn't allow power through.

Wiggling the cable will work in a pinch but the arching on the fusible link box needs to be filed off or the box replaced.

It's a very easy job to replace it, only requires a 10mm socket.

Thanks,
Lee

It’s worth noting that the positive battery terminal Hyundai used is hot garbage and will fail without being obvious. It’ll carbonize contact points with the battery post and cause an intermittent dead car condition.

this leads to being able to make or break the car just by slamming doors.

I put a copper crush washer in between the battery cable and nickel plated terminal to alleviate the pitting from the bad connection there.

While I put a washer under mine the problem continued a few weeks later to the point of having to mess with the connections nearly everytime I started the car. Ended up replacing the fusible link box and all is well again.
