  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone have problems with water dripping from trunk lid when opening the trunk in the rain?
Does anyone have a solution?

Everyone does. No solution, other than perhaps open the trunk slow and let some run off first. There are several threads about it.

Same issue. It is what it is. I just always carry a couple terry cloth towels.

It has turned from annoyances to nuisances for me since I wash my ride regularly.
The good thing is I have the WeatherTech trunk liner which prevents water from intruding onto the trunk itself.
I'm not sure though where all the water coming from since I wipe off most of it from the top of the trunk lid prior to lifting it wide open and I do so very slowly. It must be a Hyundai thing?

Open it half-way. Count to five. Open it the rest of the way.

Everyone has this problem......There isn't a solution except to buy one of those plastic trunk liners. The one from Hyundai is pretty good (and it says Genesis on it), the Weathertech one costs about $30 more, and is slightly better.
The other option is to only open the trunk in your garage, when it is raining.

With the trunk liner, the water doesn't get the carpet wet (or worse, drip down into the spare tire, battery area)

The problem I find is that the area that your license plate mounts too is plastic. And they seam on the plastic isn't a tight seam so water sits in there. When you lift your trunk it drips out or when you close the trunk it drips down your already dried bumper. Simple solution dry it all very thoroughly. Then drive wherever you are going. Get out pop the trunk and give it another quick wipe. And the rear bumper. Generally does the trick without re soaking the rear bumper again.

My solution is to live in California. It works perfectly all year.

That's right.
No dripping to worry about because even washing the car is now against the law.
And pretty soon drinking water will be against the law as well.
Drinking beer is still perfectly okay though.:D
