  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know where I can find a drive shaft coupler damper for 2010 Genesis sedan 4.6l V8 ? I bought one, but it was the wrong coupler it did not fit. Although the said it was a direct oem replacement. It manufactured by Dorman part # 935-108
I call Huyndai, but they wanted to sell me the whole drive shaft for a $1000.

Have you tried the scrap yards?

Found these Dorman part #'s, they appear to be different than the one you posted and might be worth a look. I looked up the part # you posted and it too said it would fit a '10 4.6. I would call Dorman and get clarification and tell them their part 935-108 didn't fit as stated (it's also possible they actually sent you the wrong part in the right box).

I did contact Dorman this is what I sent to them. I even include pictures, which I will attach in this post.

I bought a Dorman drive shaft coupler part #935-108 for a 2010 Hyundai Genesis sedan 4.6L V8 but it didn't fit my car. It said it was a direct replacement parts, but when I remove my oem coupler from the car and try to match it up, the holes did not line up. My coupler was way bigger. I even tired to line it up with the drive shaft but it would not fit. How is that possible when it supposed to be a direct replacement part? This is the oem part number on my coupler GAK01-006 there's also another number on mine it's 2J491-98300

This is what Dorman replied back to me.
Good morning,

This is the only option we list for this car and your OEM #’s do not cross. We may have a catalog error, I’ll have our applications team look into that

Oh wow, good thing you contacted them you may have saved future Gen sedan owners from Dorman's error.

from your pictures, and it might just be the angles of them, the 2 couplers dont look that far off. maybe measure the hole spacings on the couplers to see what the actual difference is?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I measured the bolt pattern, and mine is 2mm wider than the Dorman coupler. I think the Dorman 935-108 coupler is for the coupe, and not the sedan, although they say that it fit both model.

Update: I found a different store online. They said that they have drive shaft coupler for Genesis 4.6l V8 and it guarantee to fit, so I contacted them to make sure it was the correct part, I even explained to them that I've purchased Dorman #935-108 from a different vendor and it was the wrong part. They reply back to me and assure me that this was the correct part that they have, it was a different part number form my previous one so I order it.
Long story short, they send me the same drive shaft coupler 935-108 as what I've purchased before. At this point I wasn't too happy. I contacted them for a RMA.

Anyway I did my own research and discovered that the drive shaft coupler for 2010 Porsche Cayenne S 4.8L was the exact same size as 2010 Genesis 4.6L the part number is Dorman 935-107
And it cost $154.00 at the auto store. You can probably find it online cheaper.

I'm posting this information to to help other Genesis owner get the correct parts for their car.
The reason why I replace my drive shaft coupler, was because during hard acceleration my traction control light was flashing due to wheel hopping.
Since I have installed the new drive shaft coupler I no longer have my traction control light flashing during hard acceleration, also during deceleration I no longer have vibration coming from the drive shaft.

I contacted Dorman again to let them know that I've found the correct part for 2010 Genesis 4.6L that they manufacturer, but they didn't reply.

Fyi, there are 2 different driveshafts used in the 2010 4.6L models. The early 2010 models have the same driveshaft as 2009 (cars with a build date prior to April 27). Cars with a build date after April 27 have a different driveshaft. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind this, but I hope the info helps.
