  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ran into a strange issue today. The driver side heated seat will not turn on, no response to pushing the heat button. Vented option works fine and the other heated options (passenger seat, rear seats, and steering wheel) work fine. Fuses are fine. Restarting the car did not change symptoms. Anyone experience something similar to this?

Update: I figured out the problem after it began working intermittently. There is a harness under the passenger seat that connects to the heated features controller. That harness was damaged/severed due to chafing between the harness, seat, and floorboard when the seat position was adjusted.

Great! Did you fix it?

I did not. Going to call dealer to have it repaired under warranty. I can easily fix it myself but would rather have the work documented in case it happens again in the future. There's a red wire that controls the driver side heated seat and sure enough, it's completely severed under there. Oddly enough there is no protective wrap around the bend where it was severed but that may be a result of it rubbing. I tried to post a picture but the file is too large.

There's a YouTube video that helped me discover this issue. See it here:

That’s a good plan. You can show them exactly what the problem is rather than have them fumble around for hours 😁

I ended up fixing myself today. I work on harnesses for high-risk systems and decided to take this on myself. I don't trust the dealer to properly fix this issue as the harness is already incredibly tight, and I'm sure they would try to use bulky crimp connectors to remake the connection. I also added lots of fabric harness wrap in hopes that it will protect the harness more than the junk that came on it from the factory.
