  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi owners/leasers,

Not sure if anyone did bring this topic up before, I would like to share my thought here.

Has any of you feel that driver's seat is quite soft and I believe this intend to be comfortable. However, would you think this could cause more harsh/bouncy of the suspension?

I do believe this is one factor that make the ride not too comfortable while the suspension is firm while driver seat is too soft. Since I owned a VW Jetta with sport package, the suspension wass lowered and firm and seat was firm and that made the ride firm. This is just my 2cents.

This car originally designed "premium sports sedan".
And, HMA change its suspension for north america consumers taste.
However, i never feel genesis ride as 'uncomfortable'.

The 2010 Genesis Sedan suspension will be changed with new springs rates, shock rates, and bushings. These upcoming changes have been documented by a Hyundai employee on the Hyundai Think Tank forum website.

Hyundai recognized that the 2009 Genesis had some issues that needed improvement. The 2010 suspension changes will not alter the fundamental nature of the ride, and it will still be on the firm side, but certainly is expected to be a big improvement on rough roads.

No official word that I know of on whether these changes can be applied to a 2009 model, and even if it were possible, no word on how much it would cost.

I love the drivers seat, IF it would just go back a bit further.

The problem being that the KDM Genesis had a suspension tuned for the Korean market - which meant a softer and more pliant ride than what would be normally found in a sports sedan.

In my V8 Tech I have found the driver's seat comfort and adjustability superior to the front passenger seat, but it is inferior to industry benchmarks, such as those found in the BMW 7 series. The leather quality is comparable, however, the adjustability and the lateral support is not. Still, comparing the ownership costs, it is more than a reasonable compromise.

Media and Journalists like "Stiffer" suspension.
If HMA change suspension as soft, then genesis will not selling well in north america.

" I drove the car a few weeks after nearly falling in love with the Hyundai Genesis, which is capable of going head to head with this car, but I liked the Lincoln’s suspension better: it’s tighter and more involving than the soft Hyundai’s. "

See. Motoring Journalist says, Genesis suspension is too "soft". They pushing genesis as stiffer suspension.

I have the same problem. I am only about 5'10", so I should fit comfortably. I have the seat all the way back and still feel cramped. I told the service dept. about it last week when I had it in for service and they said that it was the same as all others. I sat in a 4.6 in the showroom and it 'was' the same way.

I drove a loaner 3.8 and it had more room. There is definitely something wrong when with my stature I feel cramped. I can't imagine how someone who is 6'2" or so tries to drive it.

Understand that people's point of view varies due to personal favorite.

To me, the car is Neither Firm Nor Smooth. It is kinda like somewhere in between and I feel bouncy/harsh/uncomfortable as a driver. And it is not just me, my wife and my friends as my guests (front and back) told me that it is bouncy in very polite way.

And I know that seat is good but just wondering if the bouncy/harsh is caused by the combination of comfort/soft seat + weird suspension.

I love the suspension/ride, despite a daily commute over bridge joints. Then again, I have the advantage of a warm climate. Might this contribute to my content? What say you dudes?

I'm 6'4" and find there to be adequate space, including headroom. I do have to tilt the seat pan back (raise the thigh, lower the rear) to get it nice and comfy though. It might be I don't have real long legs, I wear pants with a 34" inseam.

I have the steering wheel fully extended towards my chest.

Now the passenger seat, which doesn't have the seat pan tilt? For me that's not as comfortable.

Like most cars I've driven though, between the seat psn tilted back and the seat back being reclined a bit, I can't see overhead traffic lights when stopped at an intersection.

You poor guys! I have exactly the opposite problem at 5'4". I can barely see over the hood and wish the seat would raise vertically just a little bit more. It almost feels the same way as when I owned a Camaro and a Firebird. Not the suspension, just the driving position. I've learned to compensate though. Plus praise Hyundai for the beeping noises when I'm close to something.
