  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey team.

Purchased a 2018 G80 recently and asked the dealer to make some repairs.

They did an amazing job on all but one with the driver's side door pillar sticker deteriorating after the first rain here.

The pic here says it all. "New" one on left, OG one on right.

Dealer is being douchey about sending me a new sticker to replace it and I don't really want to drive another 300 miles round trip to force the issue, so curious, anyone have any experience with wrapping this piece or how I may be able to clean this up without replacing it, if possible?

Any input is appreciated.

Those are just stick on applied graphics? Thought our black pillars were black plastic solid pieces. I’m assuming my G70 is not really any different than a G80 regarding these pieces?

That's not a sticker, that's plastic. I've polished mine, and they look new. You should be able to do the same.

Don't get me started on the window trim though...

I see.

Was going off what the used car manager told me.

He fixed a myriad of other anesthetic issues, all way more involved than this, so I took his word for it.

Is the plastic trim replaceable altogether?

Yes. It pops off and you can pop a new one on.

Those anesthetic issues can be numbing.

This window frame is a piece of plastic trim. The repair is to polish out or replace. These glossy door trim pieces are prone to scratching over time. I tried to repaint them on a previous car I owned (2002 Acura TL), but ended up replacing them $$$$$. On my current 2018 G80 3.3T Sport I clear filmed these pieces at purchase time. At 3 years and ~50K miles now they still look factory new.

I am a big fan of clear filming. I've filmed the door handle pockets, rear bumper lip and entire front of car to A pillar. It's $$$, but does a great job of protecting from daily wear and tear.

On a recent drive, I was low speed swiped/tire rubbed on front left by a douche bag driving a pickup towing a trailer. It destroyed the film, but no damage to paint/body. I had the film replaced for less than what the insurance company reimbursed to remove, repair and repaint the front bumper and left fender.

😂😂😂😂 not sure why my phone chose a word I rarely use but there you have it.
That is sort of funny. I skimmed right thru that and my brain interpreted what was intended verbiage and never looked back. Spelling was never my strong point though.
