If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wife was driving the car, she's five foot nothing, when she got out, the seat didn't move back. She hit the #1 seat memory button for me, nothing happens. The seat won't move back but it will move forward. My knees are tight to the dash, I have to drive it to the dealer, 3/4 hour away to have him look at it.

Are the power seats a problem with the Genny? 42,000 km on the car.

I'm not aware of it as being a common issue.

I think someone else had this problem, and resetting the computer solve it (I'm too lazy to search).

Perhaps try taking the battery terminals off for a little while, reconnect, and try again?

I also believe someone else recently posted that it was a faulty sensor that prevented movement in one direction. The seat thought it was always in the back-most position and refused to move back.

09 and 10 model years were notorious for limit switches going bad, causing the seats and steering wheels to get stuck fully extended positions. I had both steering upper/lower, and two driver seat limit switches replaced in my '09.

Had to have my 5'4" wife drive me to the dealer once when the seat got stuck full-forward.

My dealer is all-too familiar with replacing them. The 2nd time my driver seat was intermittent so I made a video. They bother asking to see it, but instead said "Sorry sir, well take care of that right away."

Got the car to my dealer September 22, they got the seat moved back for me. They weren't sure what the problem was, seems they called Hyundai and would then order parts. September 24, one of the parts ordered on back-order. October 1, two switches arrived but a new seat track is back-ordered.

There's either a rush on seat tracks or they are getting one from Korea!! The wife and I are doing an eight hour drive this coming Tuesday, guess I'll be doing all the driving. I'm afraid if we move the seat up for her, we won't get it back for me. Bummer!!

Had driver seat issues just yesterday, first time for me (2nd owner). Sat down, stuck fob in its home, seat attempted to go to the set position, but could only complete vertical and seatback angle adjustment. Grover adjustments (near/far) didn't budge. Turned the car off, pulled the fob, put it back, pressed position 2, started, shut down, pulled fob, put back, started again, pressed position 1, all went back to happy. Fully normal operation today.

My dealer has new switches and a new track for the seat, I'm taking the car in to-morrow. He says he has a loaner for me, I wouldn't have thought it would take that long.

I'll post again after the repair. By the way, it's been working well since the diagnosis!!

Dealer called, took the car in Thursday, early in the morning. They gave me a loaner and said the job would take all day. Friday morning I got the call to pick up the car.

They had replaced the seat base, track and control switch, all under warranty including the loaner. I don't see the work being an all day job but what can I say. I didn't complain, glad it's done.

Time will tell but so far, all is well!!

We have never had the seat problem. However, we have never used the slot in the dash for the fobs. My wife has her's in pocket book and I have mine on my key chain and we do not mix them.

My issue turned out to be user-assisted. We had taken our 5 year old to hit golf balls. he's got a 24" iron that apparently fits down in the foot well and under the driver's seat. I have a nagging suspicion that the club head was interfering with the seat's ability to move.

So far, the seat works forward and backward, the memory aspect is OK, BUT the seat is not moving back for "Easy Access" when the car is shut off. The steering wheel moves up as it should but the seat doesn't go back.

Dealer can't see the car until next Monday, the 26th. Considering in all likelihood all he has to do is connect to the car's computer and turn the "Seat Easy Access" on, I'm surprised I have to wait a week.

RonJ ......

My 2013 Premium seat does not move back when the car is shut off - only the steering wheel retracts. Is this a feature available on the 2013 Premium edition?

The option is in the Engineering Menu, you can set it yourself without a trip to the dealer. There is a button sequence you have to press all at once to gain access and then a passcode for the full menu access. Search the forums for the process/code.

I did it on my 2011 Tech/Premium shortly after I got it.

Yes it is available on the Premium, you can't access the "switch" though, the dealer has to do it through the computer. When I first got my car, the EASY ACCCESS seat didn't work, the dealer had to reset the switch.

RonJ ...

Got my car back to the dealer to-day, after all the work and parts that they replaced, we now don't have EASY ACCESS on the seat. Steering wheel yes, not on the seat though. Dealer tried resetting the switch through the computer link several times, no luck.

They are now contacting Hyundai to find out what to do next.

Once they hear from the factory, they'll contact me with another appointment .... GRRRR!!!

Well, the issue is resolved. It took the dealer a few tries but hopefully, the seat issue is solved although they never told me what the final solution was.

I had to wait a week before they brought the car back in to try to get the Easy Access feature working on the seat. This problem cropped up after they replaced most of the seat hardware & switches to get the seat to move back. That was the original problem.

I dropped the car off at 7:30am, they gave me a loaner to use and an 1.5 hour later they contacted me to come and pick up the car. I don't know what they did but Easy Access and all the other aspects of the power seat are working.

It took them a few tries but I'm pleased with the dealer. The service staff were always polite and helpful. Hopefully, I won't have to be back any time too soon!!

RonJ .... :D

I have this seat issue, it is intermittent, wasted a lot of time with the dealer. It is still there.

I have a 2014 Genesis sedan 5.0 R-Spec and the driver seat will not slide to the rear. It is an intermittent problem that the dealer could not identify. I have now disabled the Easy Retract feature for the driver's seat and won't let my 5'0" wife drive my car.

I believe there is an article some where on this site that gives instructions on how to get the seat to operate correctly without going to dealer. Believe it was discussed over a year ago and gave easy instructions on how to do it. Think micro switch get crap on it so contact can't be made. Dealer charges an arm and leg to "repair" it because they remove seat and wiring to get at switch. Think they quote over $500. if not under warranty.
