  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This problem seems to be getting more frequent. It’s a 2016 Genesis with the ultimate package. It’s really distracting going in a curve. I posted this problem in the G80 forum and a member gave me a link to a TSB on AboutAutomobile. I called my dealership about it and they said all car seats have some play in them. BS! He said there is no TSB. The number I gave him was invalid. He said bring it in and they would look at it. Is anyone having this kind of problem?

No. My seats are rock solid in my 2015 model. It sound like your seat bolts may need to be tightening to specs.

Worst case, you have a broken seat support.

sorry the TSB # was invalid, I just googled it.

someone else in your other thread did post the correct TSB# I believe.

Take it in, you are under warranty no point in getting upset about it, let the service department figure it out, if you don't like the response from the dealership you called try another.

Every now and then I feel like I notice some slight play in my driver's seat. I haven't done anything about it yet.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Seats in our 16’ are rock solid also,no movement.

I have a regular 2016 Genesis and have the same problem. Started after owning for about a year. At first they would tighten it down but problem would return in a couple months. I finally got dealer to replace driver side chair rail. I told them about passenger side and they did the tighten routine. After one service of them tightening passenger seat, I drove with technician and showed him how the passenger seat rocked while I was sitting in it. It is not an extreme rock but just enough to be annoying. Not what you would expect in a Genesis. The cost was about $1,500 fortunately it was covered under warranty.

My seat shift as well when making hard turns or pulling into driveways. Every time I take it in I have them note the file and every time they tell me they don't notice it. Its very annoying.

You have same issue as me. Driveways it was most noticeable. I am having passenger seat rail replaced at St. Augustine Hyundai this Thursday after they did driver seat two weeks ago. Suggest when you take to dealer have them call my dealer. They thought I was making it up as well

Mine too. It's fairly rare, and I like to corner like a race car driver. (Note - my car does not corner like a race car.)
LOL. Most production cars that cost less than $100k do not handle like race cars.:)

However, some expensive production cars that do handle close to a race car, like most BMW M series cars, does it because they have tires that are very sticky and cost about $400 a tire. You would be amazed to how a set of $1600 tires will increase your handling.

just had the seat track on my driver seat replaced, it produced a noticeable click and rock when braking or accelerating etc... the part is about 1700.

The dealer will say it has some play but my produced the click and you can visibly see the movement.

The same thing happened to my Gen 1 Genesis sedan as well, dealership replaced the track said there was a weld that broke, but problem came back after a few month. Didn't bother with it anymore and just traded it for a Gen 2. Stupid issues I swear.

Had the Genesis serviced today getting an oil change and tires rotated and balanced. I gave the service adviser the TSB number 17-BD-003 that GarnetTy1473 provided. Thanks! They looked at it and said they ordered a whole chair rail assembly and should be here in a week. About an hour install. So far this and the drivers side visor not staying put is my only complaint.

Glad they will take care of you. They replaced my passenger chair rail today. Had the 2018 G80 as loaner for the day. Could not enter address unless car parked and probably monitored by state trooper. Being sarcastic. Like my 2016 not motivated to get a new one at this time

Me neither. I looked at a 2018 G80 5.0 with Ultimate package and listed for over $58,000. Considering I only paid $36,000 for my certified used 2016 with 6,000 miles and Ultimate package no way. Did the new rail take care of the problem?

Driver side is good will see how front passenger is tomorrow

I have a 2016 as well. Noticed a small amount of play several months ago. I was out of town for 6 months and when I came back it was signficantly worse (wife drove it while I was away). Took it to the dealership, after they attempted (and failed) to charge me a $125 diagnostic fee, they replaced the seat frame/rail assembly. Two weeks after the repair, (today) I felt the seat move again during cornering. Not too happy about it either.

Why would you be charged? That should be a warranty item. I had driver and front passenger replaced. Shocked it came back for you. I would take back and have them do again. Ask to see the old chair rail assembly. I think they simply tighten down the seat

They were trying to scam me for the diagnostic fee. As soon as I argued they dropped it. Should have gone to a different dealership at that point.

They also lost my car key and it took them 45 minutes to find it. And we're quite unprofessional when they left me a voicemail, and forgot to hang up the phone. I'll be taking my car elsewhere.

Took my Genesis in to repair the drivers seat. This was 7-28-18. Was told it would be in a few days and would call. Well weeks went buy and I called and they said the part was never ordered! The parts man assured me he is going to put in the order and would be delivered by the following week. No one called so I called them on 9-7-18 and was told again that the part was not ordered. What the Hell! Is this a game they play to not cover expensive warranty problems? So this time Jake said he would order the part ($2,000+ chair rail) and provided me an order number. We will see

Wow, that is an unreal amount of time for a dealership to have your car and to have done absolutely nothing with it!
