  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

My new to me 2012 driver's seat does not automatically slide back to make for easier exit from the driver's door. The steering column does move out of the way. How to get the seat movement to occur. Have I inadvertently turned off a switch?

Murray, suggest you click on "User CP" in the menu at the top of the page. Change your vehicle description to 1Gen (model years '09 - '14). Makes it easier to get help around here.

Does your 1st Generation Genesis have a touchscreen Nav, or a DIS control dial on the console?

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for responding. I have changed over to 1 Gen now. The car has a touch screen Nav system. The user's manual calls this a digital AVN System.

I await further instruction.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Murray, you have a Premium Package model like mine, the middle level model between Base and the Tech (w/Premium) models. Both my seat and steering wheel setting get out of whack occasionally. There are no user settings, other than the three buttons on the driver's door. If you are tall and your seat is already far back, the seat may not have more room to slide back. If that is not the problem, just trying moving your seat a bit forward. Then set the memory seat buttons to the new position. If that triggers the seat to move back automatically, then reset it to your preferred setting. That usually works for me. If all else fails, ask your dealer.

Ernie, I will try that in the light of day tomorrow. Thanks, makes sense. While I have you, any insights on how to deal with this: On the the left end of the console panel, there is a button that says Passenger air bag OFF. This has been lit up since we bought the car. I would like to have the passenger air bags functioning, but this button does not depress such that the light would go out and the air bags would go on. Any ideas?
Cheers,
Murray

Hi Murray,

The passenger seat senses if someone heavy enough is in it and turns the airbag on for that side. The default is passenger airbag off until someone needs it. It cuts down on insurance costs should you get in an accident and be alone in the car. The airbags are about $3k to replace (despite what we can get here in the consumer market) so replacing one is much better than 2 for the insurance company.

I finally gave up on solving this problem on my own, and went to the local Hyundai dealer, where the vehicle is still under warranty. This function had been turned off electronically, and was easy for them to turn on again. I would never have been able to solve this on my own.

Thanks for your help! Murray

I figured this one (weight of passenger triggers airbag operation) out on my own by the time you responded. Thanks for writing though. This forum is a terrific service! Many helpful and knowledgeable owners. Murray
