Drivers side shake on idle

Hello everyone!

With my Genesis 3.8, I’m experiencing a shake when the engine is at idle. The shake is only felt on the drivers side. I’m thinking that it’s the motor mount because recently I found a coolant leak on the upper hose that’s been pouring hot coolant all over the driver side mount.

Is there anything else that could possibly cause a one sided idle shake? I’m down to explore and check things out.

Are you sure it's only at the driver side? Have you just sat in the passenger side and waited for the same thing to happen? It could be that the AC compressor kicks in which will momentarily put a large draw on the engine which is usually felt as a shake for a split second. At times, it does it again when shutting off. I can feel things in my car that my friends and my wife can't tell at all and they all wonder if I'm 1/2 man and 1/2 machine. I can feel every hesitation, every vibration, things being too smooth (something is loose) I can even tell a 3 psi difference in my tire pressures.
That's why I'm wondering if you've actually sat in other spots in the car or if you're sitting in the driver seat and thinking that the vibration is on the driver side. Most likely, if you sat on the passenger side, you'd feel it on that side as well. Also, when you say at idle, are you talking about in gear with your foot on the brake? In Park? Rolling under it's own power?

I’ve tried it in various positions. I first noticed it when my driver side mirror was shaking but my passenger side wasn’t. So I swapped driver/passenger positions with the wife as she drove. The vibration was definitely on the driver side. Also, no A/C was used in my test. However when I do use A/C the vibration doesn’t change at all.

It happens a lot more when it’s in drive while going around town. At a light while in drive, you see and feel it. Put it in park and it almost disappears. It seems to be RPM dependent.

I also did the motor mount test where you shift the vehicle and you look to see if the engine moves/sways. But it didn’t move at all.

Sounds like transmission mount to me based on the difference between park and in gear for the vibration. Still odd that it would only be on side and to shake the exterior mirror? I crank my stereo LOUD and the side mirrors barely vibrate. You sure your driver side mirror glass isn't about to fall out? I've had that happen a few times, starts as a vibration, and then WTF?! Where'd the mirror go?!

Probably a motor mount.
