If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Same here, Sonota loaner this morning and def no a Genesis. Mine is in for vibration over 55mph, they tried to tell me its tire noise but tire noise does not vibrate the steering wheel and pulsate like an out of bal tire. They had not even tried to balance the tires before telling me that. Now they are balancing the tires. Hope it gets fixed as this car was perfectly smooth when I drove it home last week and now its not so much and its only been driven on pretty fresh blacktop, no potholes.

The Sonata is a great car and it can't be compared to the Genesis. Apples to Oranges. I had an 06, 08 and now a 2011 Sonata SE that the wife drives. It is a great car in the low 20's.

I drove a 2011 loaner and I agree it isn't a Genesis but I was impressed for a car in that price range. I would take it over Camry, Malibu, Altima etc.

Also had a Sonata loaner car when my Genesis went in for service earlier this week. For the money you can't beat the car, it is definitely on par or better than most small to mid sized cars. I traveled entirely on the highway and got 33 mpg averaging about 70 to 75, very impressed with the car.

Again, not a Genesis.

my car is back in for the second try.........got a red sonata this time
I'm starting to like this car 25.6 mpg average as opposed to 18.5 with
my Genesis

Drive a turbo. And it gets 33mpg

Since Hyundai and Kia are "in the same camp" I'm getting really impressed with the Optima...

I recently bought a red Sonata 2011 Limited Turbo with Nav etc fully loaded for my wife. I test drove the 2010 Genesis and while I agree the Sonata is no Genesis, the Sonata is impressive, great handling and ride for commute and "normal" driving (just don't try to push it on corners - again is no Genesis) but it gives great milage and 275hp turbo is not bad at all for a 4 cyl banger.

I know it has been discussed in other threads, but I wish the Genesis had folding seats in the back, I recently needed more space and while the Sonata has an impressive trunk space the folding rear seats came handy to add capacity and load what I needed; if I had the Genesis I wouldn't be able to do it and would've ended up paying for delivery or looking for a friend with a pick up truck.

If I had a Genesis in repairs and was handed a Sonata loaner I would expect it would be the Limited trim and nothing less. I heard Equus drivers can get a Genesis loaner while their cars are in service if they wish / need a car. It would be silly to get the lower Genesis trim if you are driving an Equus... right? Same should apply for Genesis owners, don't have the 4.6 Tech trim? you get to drive the Sonata Limited. Do you drive the 4.6 Tech? you get the Sonata Limited Turbo trim, but I think that's where Hyundai needs to work with their dealers network to standardize that type of service.

Just my opinion.

In reality, at my dealer at least, if my car is in for service I get a shuttle ride home or to work or wherever I need; if I need a loaner I get whatever is available at the time, and if nothing is, I get a low end rental from Enterprise down the road, paid for by the dealer. So far I have needed a loaner only once, and they didn't have any available, so I got an el cheapo Elantra from Enterprise. It got me to work, and back home, and back to the dealer as well as any other car would have, and it didn't cost me anything, so I don't have any complaints.

I do drive a 2011 4.6 Genesis, several years back I went from a 4.6 Crown Vic with police package to a 3.8 Bonneville to a 2.0 Jetta for milage. I believe this Sonata I am driving now, standard crappy version, is comparable to a Jetta with a little more room and a little peppier. I am not worried about driving this Sonata but if I was walking I would be really pissed,
Yes, they still have my Genesis.

I'M IN FOR SERVICE AND JUST HAPPY TO HAVE FREE WHEELS !
they rented me a chevy suv ..

I drive a 2009 Infiniti G37 coupe that is always serviced at the dealer (but not the dealer that I purchased it from) and recently bought my wife a new 2010 Genesis 4.6. I knew that I wouldn't be treated "special" like I am at the Infiniti dealer, and that was actually one of the criteria that I used on the spreadsheet that I made when we were car shopping. All of the Genesis' attributes far outweighed the "non-special dealership experience." I'm getting ready to take it in for the first scheduled service appointment and not getting a loaner like I automatically get at the Infiniti dealer is getting on my nerves. We both absolutely LOVE the Genesis and I was just wondering how many people won't consider a Genesis for this reason. Honestly it's a more expensive car than my Infiniti and I really think we should be treated special. I understand that Hyundai is not going to spin off a luxury dealership network and in this economy, that's smart. Plus, the halo effect that the Genesis and Equus have on the rest of the Hyundai line at the dealership is huge. But, shouldn't service loaners be part of our ownership experience?

Loaner policy is at dealer discretion. My dealer always provides a loaner if needed, or a shuttle ride to/from work or home or wherever. The dealership is decidedly not fancy, but they treat me (and everybody else, including Elantra owners) right. If you don't like they way you're being treated, try another dealer if there is one within range.

We recently traded my wifes Infiniti for a new Genesis 4.6. We looked at numerous other makes & models before buying the Genesis. One of the other cars was the Infiniti M37. Comparably equipped it was $15,000 MORE than the Genesis (after discounts & rebates). The Infiniti service treatment was GREAT, but my wife and I can drop the Genesis off for service to save $15,000.

I normally change the oil myself using synthetic anyway.

Related to the Equus including a Genesis loaner, that is built into the price. We seriously considered the Equus but felt it was not worth the 54% (Signature) to 70% (Ultimate) extra cost over the Genesis (local dealers refused to discount the Equus).
