  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So... picking up a 2015 3.8 AWD hopefully Friday that's black on black with the signature and tech packages and has only 23k on the odometer. VERY excited.

I have some confusion on the DRL's and fog lights and have read numerous threads that only made me more confused! Seems like the 15's and 16's are different and folks have taken a ton of different strategies to achieve different looks. Hoping someone can address that and a few other things I was curious about before I pick up the car.

1) DRL's on the 15's; when is the LED strip lit up verses the amber bulb that also acts as the turn signal? If the headlights are on, are the LED strips on as well? Is there a way to isolate the LED strip and only have that lit up when headlights aren't on during the daylight hours? If I install OEM fog lights, can those also be wired in a way so that you have the obvious look I'm after which is white LED strips and white fogs being on as a DRL in automatic headlight mode? Lastly, if the amber is the DRL, is there a way to modify it so it's instead white or off entirely unless you turn on your turn signal? Trying to replicate how my Sonata was to an extent - fogs were DRL's plus there was a strip in the headlight assembly that lit up (although it was very faint).

2) Do the 15's come standard with the ability to use Android Auto/Apple CarPlay or do I have to do a software update like I did in my 2016 Sonata that shared the same navigation system?

3) Outside hitting Eco every time I turn the car on, is there any way to improve MPG in the AWD model like a cold air intake?

Thanks in advance!

LED Strips are the parking lights - to have them on you have to turn the switch from off-auto-to the next position. This will also light up your tail lights. They are on with the headlights too
The DRL Lights are the front turn signal lights.
I dont think you can wire the fogs to be on with the amber DRLs (same circuit) with out them flashing with the turn signal. People have tried using switchback LEDs on the DRLs but I think I've read that it's hit or miss at most whether they work or not. You can replace the halogen DRLs with LEDs but you have to switch the plugs in the wiring harness at the lights, not too difficult but time consuming.
Not sure if putting white LEDs in the DRLs but maybe so. I put amber, they look great.
You can turn the headlight switch OFF and the turn signals only come on - no DRLs.
I wired my fogs with a separate switch. I sometimes run them by themselves or with the amber DRL leds. Both look great.
I dont know about any of the other stuff... :)

I'm confused. Is it possible to have the car running with only these lights I've colored in black?
