  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know many of you dislike the Factory DRL/high beam and foglight bulbs and quite a few have replaced them. From what I have read, mostly with bulbs to approximate the low beam H.I.D. look.

I decided to go a different way. I went with the following:

Halo H7 Solaris Yellow part #SYH7 for the DRL/high beams and Halo Solaris Yellow part #SYH8 for the foglights.

Feel free to comment: good, bad or indifferent!

DRL only:

Your high beams are now yellow or just the DRL part of it? The fog lights don't seem like they put out a lot of light...but maybe that's the angle of the picture....still a good looking car :)

Nice car. But sorry, just not feeling it :/ especially the DRL's. To each his own though.

I agree:) I feel that the "yellow" look should stay in 1986 personally:cool: Otherwise, sharp looking car!

Ditto. I'm not a fan of 'colored' headlights at all...yellow, pink, green blue, violet..the 5150K are the right temp for my 55 yr old eyes. But, to each his own.

Appreciate the comments, folks. I guess my thinking is that fogs should be for just that. As for the DRLs, I was thinking like old school Mercedes... but maybe I'm just an old fool from the 'ol skool.... ;)

I like the look. Actually fog lights SHOULD be yellow since they dont reflect off the fog as much as white lights and the perception of the yellow to the human is is better. Many imports like lexus and infiniti come with bright yellow fogs as well as your baja and rally vehicles have yellow fogs

I like the look, not sure if it is for me, however, I would love to see some night shots. Would you minds doing some and posting them up?

Thanks

That was my thinking too. Since this post I have actually changed out the foglight bulbs to PIAA #18535 Plasma Ion Yellow bulbs. These are the bulbs that I wanted originally, but they were out of stock for months from my local distributor.

The advantage of the PIAA technology is that they allow as much as 95% of the light produced by the bulb to pass through, compared to as little as 65% through dyed glass. The end result is more light on the road.

I would love to, if it quits raining sometime soon!

I think they look great........fog lamps should be yellow.

Hi,
Good looking car! Looking at your pictures, I was wondering how you got the DRLs and LEDs to work at the same time?
Thanks!

Yanno that's a darned good question; I'd be interested in knowing that myself.

DRL's & LEDs at the same time: set the lighting control switch to parking light position. See section 4-77 of owner's manual. :)

I like it, I use to have the same set up when I had my GS300. I like the yellow as It looks the polar opposite from what everyone else does with white or blue. My thinking is that you will never match the color of the LED or even OEM Xenon, no matter how hard you try "money spent" on trying different bulb from different manufactures in different kelvin ratings. As for "fog lights" they are just that and the only true color that penetrates fog is "yellow" and bad weather for the most part. Any other color used is just for "cool looks".

Thank you Robo; your thoughts mirror my sentiments to a tee. :)
