  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Drove my first R-Spec

I thought it was mid to high 5's.

I've seen the R-Spec as 4.8-5.3s, the 3.8l as 5.4-6.4s, and the 4.6l 5.5-5.9s.

Edmunds is always the slowest reported time because they don't use the 1ft roll-out, but them getting 6.4s with the 2012 3.8l yet getting 6.3s with the pre-GDI 09-11 makes no sense to me and seems awfully slow.

when it comes to handling dynamics - especially mountain roads- the bmw DOES own the road. they're in a league of their own.
I made my daughter puke in the back seat of my BMW in the Blue Ridge Mountains last year. I'm not proud... just sayin'. I had a great time driving, but no one else in the car enjoyed that trip.

I would not drive the Genesis in a puke-worthy manner unless I was alone. I learned my lesson. Cleanup was a pain in the butt.

Agreed

My take on it. longer gears opposed the 6sp six I came from. sound deadening, whisper quiet exhaust and intake. The only thing we can go by is snap of neck in seat... honestly I just don't feel it.

however this car is 1/4 mile material... not 0-60.

unfortunately im a 0-60 kinda guy :(

regarding power... the engine 5.0 DI variable this that and the other.. compared to 5.7 and other larger American engines has proved to be even in performance (camero, Challenger etc). Gas mileage has got to be better.

our car is 4000+ (4100 if I recall) lbs. that's a ton of weight to be pushing.

I wouldn't call our car Very fast as another posted... I'd say fast. Even my tuned bmw I wouldn't consider very fast ( 4.2 second car 0-60 ) but its no slouch when compared to the majority of 4 & 6 cylinder NA engines out there.

ppp

If a top speed of 158 MPH isn't very fast, just what is it?!?

After 6 different Porche products...2 being 911 Turbos....noise has nothing to do with perception....the Geny moves really well.....but get a grip:cool:

I disagree. But, respect your opinion. Mine is just 180* different.

It is my opinion that the tranny is the cause of the deceptive effect with this car. I know the car was banging from a performance standpoint, it was just cloaked if you will by the smooth tranny. I swear I never felt the thing shift once:confused:

LMAO you too...

I was going to bushkill falls in PA... and the roads were peaks and valleys and lots of turns... I too was in my BMW... not enjoy the road or have daughter puke.... I truly believe there is a fine line and I was right there !

nice to know as diverse as people are some things are still the same !

Yeah, I agree. I drove the 2012's and it seems the trannies are designed for smoothness, and BETTER GAS MILEAGE. I like my driving my 2010 3.8 more than the new ones, because there is an immediacy to accelerator pressure missing in the new cars.

My past three cars would do 150+ mph.

Honestly being in surburbia theres no place to top out and i wouldnt want to !

I stick to my previous statement 0-60 good... 1/4 mile and getting there great.

Id much rather have a lightning bolt stupid fast 0-100 then a boat 30-158 fast

If the govenor was off the car i figure it would do around 180...just fyi

the rspec on par w/ a cobra? i think that's a bit of a stretch considering the cobra is on a totally different level -higher- when it comes to sport and performance. the rspec is not even close to the new cobra when talking performance numbers. for example, the cobra is in the 3's 0-60 , whereas the genny is in the high 4's 0-60. huge difference.

Perhaps you misread what he said. He said; "I never expected it to be on par with the Cobra."
