  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Drove off the lot with a new 2012 Black R-Spec Today

I also noticed today that the surround sound box does not stay checked when I shutoff and start the car. I have to set it each time for each mode (FM,XM,CD etc....). Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix for this?

That is unusual, what does Trotti say on his r-spec or others your input is appreciated. These forums are great info for everyone & myself when my ordered r-spec arrives.

I checked on this over the weekend. The surround sound box stays checked on mine for that particular feed only - as in, it's an input level setting. For example, when I clicked surround sound for CD source, surround sound remained checked. It did not, however, automatically select surround for my other inputs (e.g., XM) which I had to check on my own. But, once selected, they have remained selected.

One thing that came to mind when I was typing this response is whether the selection for surround goes down to an individual CD (i.e., if I select surround for CD 1 will it also play in surround for CD 2). I'll check tonight.

I've also noticed there is no more random play setting. WTF is Hyundai thinking. I'm hoping I just missed the setting somewhere.

how do you insert images into your post?

If you have the pictures stored online somewhere, then you just click the picture icon when typing your post. If you need to upload it, you click Manage Attachments down further on the page.

Here's some pics of my new R-Spec... Enjoy. I sure am :)

How is it even possible that I'm jealous given that I own the same exact car/color combo??!?!?!?!?!?!

Kudos Hyundai, you've made an excellent car.

Looks great. Congrats!
Is it true the LED strips only come on with the HID's?
It would be nice to have the tail lights on with the LED strips, no HID's.
Never liked the fact that the HID's have to be on for the fogs to turn on.
Choices, choices - we need more of them! :)

:) :) :) LOVE IT....the only better looking one is mine!

Nice photos! Can you come over and wax mine? Anyways, I'm having the same issue with the surround sound turning itself off on all sources, but it's not consistent. It's not everytime I shutoff and start the car and I can't figure out if it's a certain sequence of events that causes it or purely random. All other audio settings remain untouched. Any other R-Spec owners experiencing this?

Hey Metalv8b...

Youre right. Its not all the time and very random. Im trying to figure out what the events are leading up to this. My car is in service today for a rattle in the door, Bluetooth not working and the voice command button not working. I will mention this when I call later. Maybe there's a fix for this.

Ouch! Hopefully that resolves everything. I'll be curious to know if that also fixes the random de-selection of surround sound. Keep me posted. Thanks.

$6200 wow! Lets hope your car is trouble free after the change...you seem unusually calm about the issue (well as much as one can tell through words). I commend you on your patience! .

Im pretty patient guy. No use getting all bent about it. Its no ones fault this is happening. Now if they cant fix it or it goes on too long then I'll get riled up :).

Also Im glad I didnt transfer my XM over to the R-spec yet. What a bummer if I had to do that twice.

Seattle you are absolutely correct. These things happen and if Hyundai takes quick action to correct the problem then getting riled about it is just a waste...just rare to wittnes this kind of mature behavior. Actually I'll be visiting your fair city this weekend. I've read a couple of guides and I'm ready. Weatherman says 75+ and NO rain!!!

Yeah def let us know the outcome. I am curious if the Lexicon system may need a firmware update from Lexicon and/or Hyundai. Possibly it's firmware became corrupted.

Or a refresh of firmware, very curious here the cause and cure, especially being on the 2012 MY. This is an issue I suspect for the hand shake between the techs at the Hyundai factory and the Lexicon supplier IMHO.

Today's auto technology has become so complicated and intricate, lucky are they can can truely utilize their full functionality, and those that can the componentry loses full function? Computers are in these cars and my thinking is with the addition of thumb drives / flash drives what about the possibility of a virus transference from home / laptop to car computer. Anyone ever heard if they have any self monitoring antivirus security software? Or a program that needs to be run periodically...(Thinking out loud).

I will post this on the think tank, may get seen by those that need to see it. A new car should not have to replace components so quickly after initial purchase.

Pain in the a$$, but glad to see they're addressing it. I hope that I build confidence in one of my local dealerships, but I'm not sure it'd be so easy for me.

Time will tell.

Im pretty sure the unit was defective after it left the factory. On my test drive I noticed these issues so I knew it had to be addressed ASAP. I was willing to take delivery of the car knowing about this. Now they are replacing it to my satisfaction.
Im really thrilled with my dealers here in Seattle area. The service guys are top notch and willing to go way beyond the call of duty to keep me happy. That relationship with the service guys is invaluable. Never get them on your bad side. They wont be as nice to deal with.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I noticed that on my 2012 4.6, for FM only.. the surround check box does not remain 'checked'. All the other sources remain checked.. weird. I can live with that.

Congrats Seattle Genesis!

Just picked up a 2011 4.6 in Titanium with the Tech package off the showroom floor last saturday 8/13/11 at Korum in Puyallup. They just got the Rspec in that day and were PDI'ing it while we were there. Price was 46 large.

When we came back from a test drive in another 4.6 on the lot, our car was off the floor and guess what was on it? Yep! A black on black Rspec. :D When my wife saw that, she immediately changed her mind on the 4.6 and wanted that car instead. Alas, my checkbook overruled and I went home without the Rspec.

Nonetheless, I am extremely happy and always looking for a reason to drive my 4.6. Hope to see you around the Seattle/Tacoma area. Would love to go for a ride in your 5.0!

Enjoy!

P.S. My spoiler is on the way along with the associated badges and tint next weekend. If you need assistance installing them when you receive them, PM me and I'd be more than happy to give you a hand. I used to restore musclecars back in the day.

Hey Rudderman,

I just saw your post here. Sorry I missed it. Congrats on your new ride. Ive been trying different sites to buy the badges, but cant seem to get a good site. Im not much an Ebay person nor do I do Paypal.. I guess im pretty lost without them.

Love to see your ride and sure you can ride the "e-ticket" ride. PM me if you want to meet up some weekend. Im in the south sound area.
