  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I live in an area of ice and snow. Is anyone else considering putting on a better all season tire? My experience in the Boulder, CO foothills last week was not good. Iowa today was ice, no traction.

All season tires are not going to help in snow/ice. It's better to use snow tires, especially when you have a rear-wheel drive car.

Hi Bear:

I live in Ontario, Canada and after just one drive in the snow with my 3.8 Genesis, I ordered up winter tires. The difference is shocking. With the winter tires on my car, it behaves remarkably well in snow and - for the most part - on ice. Some winter tires are better in snow while others are better on ice. The dealer actually made a mistake and put Yokohama tires on my car instead of the Contential's that I had ordered. I'm supposed to go back on Thursday and have the right rims and tires installed, so will get a chance to see what two different tires can do for me.

One side benefit as unbelievable as it sounds, is that replacing the Dunlops that came with the car (18" Dunlop's) with 17" winter tires actually dramatically improved the ride. If I were you I would get winter tires on ASAP and spend the winter convincing Hyundai that you want decent tires installed next spring to replace the Dunlop's that came with your car.

I live in Harrisburg, PA. A week ago, the roads were wet from rain, which when the temperature dropped, iced up with an inch of snow on top. I was not impressed with the Genesis handling on those road conditions despite all the magic of technology to control wheel spin and tire slippage.

The dilemma is, Harrisburg averages 22 inches of snow in the winter. Last year we had no more than 12 inches all winter. Considering that, it's hard to justify the expense of winter wheels and tires.

If I lived further north, I would definitely use winter wheels and snow tires. The Genesis as currently equipped, does not inspire confidence in snow and ice. Our other car is a 2006 Subaru Outback Ltd. Our Subaru can climb trees. :)

I have personal experience with Bridgestone Blizzaks on a 91 and a 98 Q45 and could highly recommend them. By the way, I bought wheel and tire combos from The Tire Rack both times and they were delivered to my house mounted balance and ready to go. All in all a great experience.

Secondly, I would also be interested in what others feel would be a good all seasonal replacement for the OEM Dunlop tires Hyundai is delivering with the 4.6???
